Job summary

Cisco is seeking a Senior Consulting Engineer in Kuala Lumpur to lead strategy, design, and optimization of SD-Access, SD-WAN, and Routing & Switching engagements for major customers.

You will shape hardware/software roadmaps, integrate AI and AIOps into delivery, and mentor engineers while contributing to industry forums and strategic advisory activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience with 9 years overall experience.
• Experience architecting, deploying, and optimizing enterprise-scale Cisco networks.
• Experience crafting and troubleshooting Enterprise solutions with deep expertise in Routing & Switching (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS/Segment Routing, VXLAN/LISP, multicast, segmentation).
• Experience with software programmability, automation, orchestration, and AIOps (Python, Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD, NETCONF/YANG, REST APIs).
• An understanding of multi-vendor environments, including DC/Nexus technologies

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end strategy, deployment, and optimization of sophisticated multi-domain solutions across SD-Access, SD-WAN, and Routing & Switching for strategic customers.
• Review and approve designs and deliverables, including guidance to customer hardware/software roadmaps, embedding Resilience and Security by Design.
• Integrate AI, automation, and AIOps into delivery practices; handle the team's knowledge repository, playbooks, and reusable IP.
• Act as the senior escalation point for the most sophisticated technical issues; build advanced customer simulations and lead resolution across vendors and partners.
• Mentor junior Consulting Engineers, build leadership presence through industry events, and use competitive insights to differentiate Cisco solutions.

Your Impact

As a Senior Consulting Engineer, you will lead the strategy, design, and optimization of Cisco's most sophisticated SD-Access, SD-WAN, and Routing & Switching engagements. This role is exciting because you'll shape customer hardware and software roadmaps, integrate emerging AI and AIOps capabilities into our delivery practice, mentor the next generation of engineers, and build influence across the theatre and beyond — through industry forums, intellectual capital, and strategic customer advisory.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience with 9 years overall experience.
• Experience architecting, deploying, and optimizing enterprise-scale Cisco networks.
• Experience crafting and troubleshooting Enterprise solutions with deep expertise in Routing & Switching (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS/Segment Routing, VXLAN/LISP, multicast, segmentation).
• Experience with software programmability, automation, orchestration, and AIOps (Python, Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD, NETCONF/YANG, REST APIs).
• An understanding of multi-vendor environments, including DC/Nexus technologies

Preferred Qualifications

• CCIE certification (Enterprise Infrastructure or equivalent).
• Active CCNP certification with DevNet (DevOps) specialization as a plus.
• Specialized domain expertise (e.g., Healthcare, BFSI, Public Sector, Service Provider).
• A track record of leading multi-million-dollar engagements and sophisticated transformation programs.
• Strong executive communication, mentorship, and thought-leadership skills; experience facilitating design workshops, leading technical conversations, and contributing to industry forums.
• Strategic approach with business and financially savvy to articulate solution value to executive technical buyers.
• Experience in technical documentation, including the creation of High-Level Designs (HLD), Low-Level Designs (LLD), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports.
• Proven capability to build and maintain strong working relationships with project partners and collaborators.
• Ability to solve sophisticated network issues independently while leading fast paced situations.
• Fluency in Japanese is preferred to manage and support our customers in Japan.
