Job summary

ECRL OPERATION SDN. BHD. seeks a Jurutera Elektrik Kompeten (JEK) to oversee high‑voltage electrical installations across ECRL projects.

You will ensure compliance with Suruhanjaya Tenaga and applicable acts, and lead safe operation and maintenance of PMUs, substations and traction power systems. Ideal candidates have 5–10 years in HV electrical environments, knowledge of SCADA/ECC, and professional registration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification recognized by the relevant authorities
• Competency level appropriate for the voltage and electrical installations under responsibility; 132kV competency is highly preferred for relevant ECRL installations
• Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience in high-voltage electrical systems, power distribution, traction power supply, railway electrical systems or similar infrastructure
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety, switching procedures, protection systems, substations and high-voltage equipment
• Knowledge of Malaysian electrical legislation, Suruhanjaya Tenaga requirements and applicable industry standards
• Experience in railway, metro, power utility or large-scale infrastructure projects is highly preferred
• Registered Professional Engineer or relevant professional registration is an added advantage
• Familiarity with SCADA, Electrical Control Centre (ECC), protection and control systems will be an advantage

Responsibilities

• Act as the appointed Jurutera Elektrik Kompeten (JEK) for designated ECRL electrical installations
• Ensure electrical installations are operated and maintained in compliance with Suruhanjaya Tenaga requirements, Electricity Supply Act 1990, Electricity Regulations 1994, and other applicable standards
• Supervise and oversee the safe operation and maintenance of Power Main Units (PMU), substations, traction power supply and associated electrical systems
• Monitor the condition, performance and reliability of electrical equipment and systems
• Provide technical advice and recommendations for electrical faults, abnormalities and operational issues
• Coordinate electrical isolation, switching, restoration and maintenance activities
• Ensure appropriate electrical safety procedures, permits, risk assessments and safe working practices are implemented
• Review and endorse relevant electrical procedures, maintenance instructions, method statements and technical documentation where required
• Support testing, commissioning, inspection and acceptance of electrical systems and equipment
• Coordinate with the Electrical Control Centre (ECC), Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and Safety teams on electrical system matters
