Job summary

Constant Energy seeks a qualified 132kV Competent Electrical Engineer to oversee operation and maintenance of a 29.9MW Solar Power Plant. You will ensure compliance with ST regulations and act as the technical liaison with ST, TNB Grid Maintenance, TNB GSO, and the Single Buyer.

The role requires registration as a 132kV Competent Electrical Engineer with ST and at least 5 years in HV systems. Kampung Gajah, Perak placement preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognised university.
• Must be registered as a 132kV Competent Electrical Engineer (Jurutera Elektrikal Kompeten) with ST, or registered as a 132kV Service Electrical Engineer.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in high-voltage electrical systems, substations, or power generation facilities.
• Experience in operation and maintenance of utility-scale solar plants is highly preferred.
• Experience in commissioning, protection systems, SCADA, and grid interconnection is an added advantage.
• Familiarity with Malaysian Grid Code and ST regulatory requirements.
• Strong knowledge of 132kV interconnection facility, protection systems, transformers, switchgear, and transmission systems.
• Willing to work at Kampung Gajah, Perak

Responsibilities

We are seeking a qualified and registered 132kV Competent Electrical Engineer (Jurutera Elektrikal Kompeten 132kV) to oversee the operation and maintenance of a 29.9MW Solar Power Plant (SPP).

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with statutory requirements under the Energy Commission (ST), supporting the licensing process, maintaining the electrical installation in accordance with applicable regulations, and ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the plant.

The position also serves as the primary technical liaison with regulatory authorities and grid stakeholders, including Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), TNB Grid Maintenance (TNB GM), TNB Grid System Operator (TNB GSO), and the Single Buyer.

Job Description

• Serve as the appointed 132kV Competent Electrical Engineer as required by the Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga).
• Assist in obtaining and maintaining all statutory licences and approvals required for the Solar Power Plant, including the SPP (Generation) Licence.
• Ensure compliance with the Electricity Supply Act, Electricity Regulations, Grid Code, Malaysian Grid Code, and other applicable statutory requirements.
• Act as the competent person responsible for the operation of the 132kV electrical installation.
• Manage and supervise the safe operation and maintenance of the 29.9MW Solar Power Plant and associated 132kV electrical systems.
• Ensure all preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with approved procedures and industry best practices.
• Monitor plant performance, system reliability, and equipment health to maximise plant availability.
• Review switching programmes and supervise high-voltage switching activities.
• Lead fault investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for electrical incidents and system abnormalities.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, permit-to-work systems, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and electrical safety requirements.
• Act as the primary liaison with:

• Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST)
• TNB Grid Maintenance (TNB GM)
• TNB Grid System Operator (TNB GSO)
• Single Buyer (SB)
• Other government agencies and utility authorities as required.

• Coordinate planned outages, maintenance schedules, grid compliance matters, and operational reporting with relevant stakeholders.
• Attend technical meetings, inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews.
• Ensure compliance with Grid Code requirements, protection settings, and operational procedures.
• Review and approve electrical operation and maintenance procedures.
• Maintain all statutory records, operational logs, maintenance reports, and compliance documentation.
• Support internal and external audits related to plant operations and regulatory compliance.
• Provide technical guidance to the operations and maintenance team.
