About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager – High Voltage & Data Centre Systems to lead commissioning activities for high-voltage substations and mission-critical data centre electrical infrastructure.
The successful candidate will oversee the planning, execution, testing, energization, documentation, and customer acceptance of HV and data centre electrical systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant project delivery.
- Lead commissioning and energization activities for HV substations and data centre electrical systems.
- Develop commissioning strategies, schedules, procedures, and resource plans.
- Lead multidisciplinary commissioning teams and coordinate activities with project milestones.
- Ensure commissioning activities are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
High Voltage (HV) Commissioning
- Oversee testing and commissioning of GIS/AIS, transformers, HV/MV switchgear, protection and control systems, SCADA, and grid communication interfaces.
- Verify system functionality, interlocking, protection coordination, and control logic.
- Coordinate integration and testing with utility operators and relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with applicable IEC standards and project commissioning procedures.
Data Centre Electrical Commissioning
- Lead commissioning of electrical systems supporting mission-critical data centres, including:
- UPS systems
- Static Transfer Switches (STS)
- MV/HV switchgear
- Generators
- Battery systems
- Power Monitoring Systems (PMS)
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Plan and execute Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
- Validate redundancy, failover, load transfer, and system resilience.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Uptime Institute Tier requirements and data centre commissioning standards.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure commissioning documentation, including ITPs, test sheets, checklists, commissioning plans, and IST scripts, is complete and audit-ready.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve technical issues, NCRs, and deviations.
- Support FAT, SAT, customer witness testing, and acceptance testing.
- Ensure all commissioning activities comply with project quality requirements and applicable standards.
Safety & Risk Management
- Implement HV safety procedures and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments for energization, load transfer, and integrated systems testing.
- Ensure safe working practices throughout commissioning activities.
- Identify and mitigate technical and operational risks associated with HV and mission-critical electrical systems.
- Coordinate with engineering, project management, QA/QC, suppliers, subcontractors, commissioning engineers, and data centre operators.
- Lead customer witness testing, IST sessions, and acceptance activities.
- Provide regular updates regarding commissioning progress, technical risks, issues, and resolutions.
- Maintain strong customer and stakeholder relationships throughout project execution.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain commissioning logs, test reports, punch lists, energization records, and IST documentation.
- Track commissioning activities and outstanding actions through to closure.
- Prepare regular commissioning progress reports for project leadership.
- Ensure all final commissioning records are complete and properly documented.
- Strong expertise in HV/MV electrical systems and substations.
- Experience with GIS/AIS, transformers, HV/MV switchgear, and protection systems.
- Strong knowledge of protection relays, relay logic, interlocking, and fault analysis.
- Experience with SCADA, PMS, and BMS.
- Data centre electrical commissioning experience covering UPS, generators, STS, batteries, and MV/HV distribution.
- Hands‑on experience with HV testing, relay testing/configuration, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
- Knowledge of IEC standards, ISO 9001, and Uptime Institute Tier requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities.
- Ability to prepare and review commissioning procedures, test reports, and IST scripts.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in HV substation commissioning, including GIS/AIS.
- 3–5 years of experience in data centre electrical commissioning, preferably within hyperscale or enterprise data centre environments.
- Strong experience with protection relays, SCADA, PMS/BMS, and IST processes.
- Experience working within EPC, OEM, utility, data centre, or mission‑critical infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, IEC standards, and Uptime Institute Tier requirements.
- Strong leadership, commissioning, testing, and technical troubleshooting skills.
Working Conditions
- Regular interaction with suppliers, subcontractors, site teams, commissioning engineers, and customers.
- Site‑based work involving hands‑on inspection, testing, and energization of HV electrical systems.
- Ability to work in a project/site environment and support critical commissioning activities as required.
