Job summary

MN Utilities Engineering Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Project Engineer - High Voltage to lead engineering, installation supervision, testing, commissioning and coordination for the 275kV CLS project for a hyperscale data centre. You will liaise with clients, consultants, OEMs, subcontractors and TNB to ensure safe, compliant and on-schedule delivery.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 1 year in substation projects at 132kV+ with exposure to GIS

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent recognized by BEM.
• Minimum 1 year relevant experience in substation projects involving 132kV and above.

Responsibilities

• Review and coordinate: Single Line Diagram (SLD), Cable routing, Earthing layout, Interface drawings, GIS and transformer drawings.
• Ensure installation complies with approved drawings, IEC/IEEE/ST standards, TNB requirements, and project specifications.
• Supervise installation activities for GIS equipment, Power transformers, GIB/busduct, HV cables, Earthing, and protection and control panels.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and OEM specialists during installation and testing, monitor progress and schedule.
• Coordinate and witness tests (Hi-Pot, IR, primary/secondary injection, relay testing, SCADA/BMS integration, functional/interlock tests).
• Support energization activities and switching procedures with TNB and client representatives.
• Prepare and review MOS, HIRARC, site reports, technical submissions, RFI/NCR responses; maintain project records.
• Participate in safety meetings and risk assessments; ensure HV works meet PTW and HSE requirements.

We’re looking for an experienced Project Engineer - High Voltage (HV) to join our dynamic team!

Position Summary

The High Voltage Engineer shall be responsible for the engineering, installation supervision, testing, commissioning, and coordination of all high-voltage electrical systems related to the 275kV Consumer Landing Station (CLS) project for a hyperscale data centre.

The candidate shall coordinate with client representatives, consultants, OEM vendors, subcontractors, and utility authorities including Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to ensure all works are executed safely, in compliance with project specifications, statutory requirements, and project schedules

Requirements

Academic Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent recognized by BEM.

Working Experience

Minimum:

• 1-year relevant experience in substation projects involving 132kV and above.

Preferred experience in:

• 275kV GIS substations
• Protection systems
• SCADA integration
• TNB interface coordination

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of HV electrical systems and protection schemes
• Familiar with IEC, IEEE, ST, and TNB standards
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Good understanding of testing and commissioning procedures
• Familiar with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and engineering documentation systems

• Support energization activities and switching procedures with TNB and Client representatives.

Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare and review:
  • Method Statements (MOS)
  • HIRARC
  • Site reports
  • Technical submissions
  • RFI and NCR responses
• Maintain proper project documentation and records.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all HV works are carried out in accordance with:
  • TNB safety requirements
  • Permit-To-Work (PTW) procedures
  • Project HSE requirements
• Participate in site safety meetings and risk assessments.
