Job summary

Camarine Supervision seeks an experienced Commissioning Engineer for projects based in Taiwan. You will supervise pre-commissioning, commissioning and plant start-up across multi-disciplines, with a focus on instrumentation, DCS and rotating equipment readiness.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 3+ years in chemical/O&G/energy industries, with strong safety awareness and English proficiency. International mobility is required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and witness testing of rotating equipment (compressors, turbines, pumps).

Job description

Camarine Supervision is supporting a reputable international client in the industrial gases and engineering sector in sourcing an experienced Commissioning Engineer for projects based in Taiwan.

Role Summary:

Supervise and participate in site pre-commissioning, commissioning and plant start-up activities for major industrial process facilities. The role covers multi-discipline systems, quality and safety controls, schedule management, performance testing and final handover to operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support instrumentation calibration and loop checks, and verify readiness of field instrumentation for commissioning.
• Check DCS and other control/safety-system hardware, configuration and logic as part of commissioning readiness.
• Support electrical commissioning activities and verify mechanical readiness of piping and equipment, including cleaning, inspection and conformity with approved drawings.
• Coordinate and witness testing of rotating equipment such as compressors, turbines and pumps.
• Commissioning and Start-Up
• Participate in plant start-up activities for major industrial gas and process units, including air-separation and hydrogen-related facilities.
• Support process-control tuning, performance testing and troubleshooting during start-up and stabilisation.
• Assist with training and handover of plant operations to the end user.

Quality, Reliability and Documentation

• Perform system-by-system site inspections, follow inspection and test plans (ITPs), and manage punch-list preparation and closure.
• Support QA/QC planning and ensure compliance with project commissioning plans, checklists and inspection requirements.
• Raise and follow up non-conformities or anomalies, implement corrective/preventive actions and track closure.
• Maintain accurate commissioning progress and schedule updates, with clear activity logic and reliable forecasting.
• Support start-up reliability by identifying readiness gaps early and following through on corrective actions.
• Organise and maintain current site documentation and master records through completion of commissioning activities, capture lessons learned and protect confidential/proprietary technical information.

HSE and Progress Management

• Coordinate site HSE activities, conduct safety inspections and follow up safety events, audit findings and unsafe conditions.
• Exercise stop-work authority where a serious and immediate threat to people or property is identified.
• Support pre-start-up safety review (PSSR) readiness and closure of blocking items before start-up.
• Prepare and control the site commissioning schedule and monitor progress against plan.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Cryogenic, Chemical, Mechanical, Process Control or a related discipline.
• Broad working knowledge of instrumentation, electrical systems, DCS/control systems, rotating equipment, mechanical systems and chemical/process operations.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in the chemical, oil & gas or energy industries.
• High flexibility and mobility to work across different project locations, including international sites.
• Strong safety awareness, quality mindset, initiative, learning agility and problem-solving capability.
• Good cooperation, organisation and communication skills.
• Proficient in spoken and written English; Chinese language capability is an advantage.
