Job summary

Toh Soon Cafe SDN BHD in Selangor invites applications for a barista role. You will prepare and serve coffee and beverages to cafe standards, operate espresso machines and grinders, and maintain cleanliness of the station.

Fresh graduates are welcome and training is provided to develop skills in dialing-in and beverage presentation. You should be attentive to detail, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy teamwork.

Qualifications

Job description

Prepare and serve coffee and other beverages according to café standards.

Work with both Robusta and Arabica coffee beans, understanding their different characteristics and flavour profiles.

Operate and maintain espresso machines, coffee grinders, and other café equipment.

Perform basic espresso dialing-in, including adjusting grind size, dose, extraction time, and yield to maintain consistency.

Ensure consistent coffee quality, taste, temperature, and presentation.

Prepare espresso-based beverages such as espresso, Americano, latte, cappuccino, and other specialty coffee drinks.

Assist with coffee bean preparation, grinding, and storage to maintain freshness.

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the coffee station and equipment.

Carry out daily cleaning and basic maintenance of coffee machines and grinders.

Provide friendly and professional service to customers.

Take customer orders and assist with cashier and general café duties when required.

Monitor coffee and beverage supplies and inform the supervisor when stock is running low.

Work closely with the café team to ensure smooth daily operations.

Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards.

Requirements:

Basic knowledge of Arabica and Robusta coffee beans is an advantage.

Experience with espresso machines and coffee grinders is preferred.

Basic understanding of espresso extraction and grinder adjustment.

Good attention to detail and consistency.

Passionate about coffee and willing to learn more about coffee preparation.

Friendly, responsible, punctual, and able to work well in a team.

Able to work in a fast-paced café environment.

Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
