Job summary

Oxydata Software Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced AS400 COBOL Developer for banking and payments solutions in Kuala Lumpur. The role involves designing, coding, testing, and maintaining AS400 COBOL modules, with emphasis on SQL/DB2 integration and production support.

You will collaborate with clients and stakeholders, analyse requirements, and implement robust technical solutions across the full SDLC, ensuring quality, security, and timely delivery in an onsite environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/SE or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on AS400 COBOL development experience.
• Strong COBOL/400 programming experience.
• Experience with IBM AS400 / IBM i and DB2.
• Experience in banking domain and payments workflows.
• End-to-end SDLC experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, configure, test, and maintain AS400 COBOL software modules and components.
• Analyse business and functional requirements to deliver effective technical solutions.
• Enhance and implement new functionalities in line with user and business requirements.
• Maintain and support existing AS400 applications within banking and payments environment.

We are seeking an experienced AS400 COBOL Developer to design, develop, and maintain critical applications in the banking and payments sector.

Responsibilities

Requirements

Must-have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on AS400 COBOL development experience.
• Strong programming experience in COBOL/400.
• Strong working knowledge of IBM AS400 / IBM i.
• Strong working knowledge of SQL.
• Strong working knowledge of DB2 database.
• Proven experience developing and maintaining AS400 applications.
• Experience working within the banking domain.
• Strong experience or functional understanding of payments systems and payment processing workflows.
• Experience across the complete software development and delivery lifecycle.
• Ability to analyse complex technical issues and deliver effective solutions.
• Experience working directly with clients and providing application development or support services.
• Strong understanding of software development standards, coding practices, testing, and release management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-have

• Experience using JIRA for task, incident, and project tracking.
• Experience using ALDON for AS400 source control, change management, and deployment.
• Knowledge of banking transaction processing, settlement, reconciliation, clearing, or payment messaging.
• Experience supporting high-volume and business-critical banking applications.
• Exposure to production support, incident management, root cause analysis, and change management.
• Familiarity with Agile or structured software development methodologies.
• Experience working in an application maintenance, managed services, or client-facing delivery environment.
