Job summary

Tecomet, Inc in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to program, set up and operate CNC machines, ensuring parts meet exact specifications and customer quality expectations.

You will verify dimensions with gauges, read blueprints, document production and quality logs, maintain tooling and equipment, follow safety procedures, and coordinate with shifts to deliver only high quality parts. Experience with turning, drilling, grooving, and threading is preferred.

Qualifications

  • SPM holder or certificate in Machining.
  • Basic reading, writing and some advanced arithmetic skills required. Ability to speak, read and write in Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

  • Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a CNC machine while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to standards.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements and troubleshooting.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by performing preventive maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Cleans and maintains the work area and communicates across shifts.
  • Ensures only good quality products leave manufacturing for shipment to customers.
  • Participates in quality improvement projects.

Summary

Ensure product machining meet specification and customer’s quality expectation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to company standards.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs
  • Clean and maintain work area.
  • Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Ensure correct, good quality products are only allowed to leave manufacturing to be shipped to customer.
  • Participate in quality improvement project.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

SPM holder or Certificate in Machining.

Language Skills

Basic reading, writing, and some advanced arithmetic skills required. Ability to speak, read and write in Bahasa Malaysia.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to count and perform simple mathematical calculation.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to read, interpret, and create blueprints and schematics.

EQUIPMENT USED

Computer, calculator, quality check equipment and gauges.
