Job Summary
The CNC Setter / Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and supporting CNC machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and production requirements. This role focuses on machine setup, tooling, offsets, and first-piece accuracy, while also supporting daily machining operations on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
Set up CNC milling machines according to work instructions
Install tools, fixtures, and workpieces; set tool and work offsets
Perform first-piece machining and ensure dimensional accuracy
Adjust offsets and cutting parameters to maintain quality and consistency
Read and interpret engineering drawings and basic GD&T
Perform in-process inspection using measuring instruments (caliper, micrometer, gauges)
Troubleshoot basic machining, tooling, and setup issues
Support CNC operators and guide them during production runs
Maintain machine cleanliness and follow 5S and safety procedures
Record production data, setup details, and issues accurately
Requirements & Qualifications
Certificate or Diploma in Machining, Manufacturing, or related field
Minimum 3-5 years experience as CNC Setter or Machinist
Strong knowledge of CNC milling machine setup
Familiar with CNC controllers (Fanuc / Mitsubishi)
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and tolerances
Experience machining aluminium, steel, stainless steel, or plastic is an advantage
Willing to work shifts and overtime when required
Hands-on, detail-oriented, and quality-focused
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Able to work independently and support team members
