Job summary

Amazon Web Services Malaysia SDN. BHD. is seeking a Data Center Linux & Hardware Engineer to support large-scale cloud infrastructure.

The role involves on-call support, server and network troubleshooting, and working across multiple data center facilities. You will engage with internal teams and external vendors, contribute to project work, and help ensure high uptime of critical hardware and systems within AWS data centers in the region.

Qualifications

• Understanding of Linux/Unix Administration.
• Server hardware troubleshooting experience.
• Server booting procedures including POST, BIOS, PXE, Kickstart, GRUB/LILO, and RAID.
• Experience with TCP/IP and other networking protocols.
• Familiarity with copper and optical fiber cabling, switches and routers.
• Strong communication skills.
• Passionate about IT infrastructure and hardware.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a high level of system reliability by prioritizing and resolving trouble tickets; serve as escalation point for all Systems and Network hardware problems.
• Deep dive into Linux server issues and Xen service virtualization troubleshooting.
• Remediate physical layer outages and participate in power/cooling events in data centers.
• Meet 24x7 On-Call requirements; respond during shift rotations and install/configure racks of hosts following internal SLAs.
• Act as data center point of contact for high severity issues and coordinate with vendors/contractors.
• Contribute to project management and mentoring; help define metrics to improve uptime.
