Malaysia Smelting Corporation Berhad seeks a qualified Tin Assay Specialist to lead the Tin Assay section, ensuring accurate assay of feed materials, in-process samples, fluxes and final products. You will manage daily operations and report results with precision.
The role requires hands-on experience with OES, XRF, AAS, ICP-OES, and related lab instruments, plus strong supervision and troubleshooting skills. Willingness to work at Pulau Indah, Port Klang, Selangor is essential.
In charge of the Tin Assay section and responsible for the accurate assay of feed materials, in-process samples, fluxes, and final products of smelting.
Responsibilities:
Experienced in handling analytical instruments (such as optical emission spectrometers, XRF spectrometers, AAS, ICP, and etc).
Troubleshooting and conduct routine calibration of the highlighted analytical instruments above.
Monitor and supervise a team of lab supervisors and assistants responsible for sample collection from any incoming raw materials.
Coordinate with Ore Room's Supervisor for sample collection of any incoming raw materials.
Maintaining and recording lab consumables, tools, storage items and so forth.
In charge of the Tin Assay section and responsible for the accurate assay of all smelting samples.
To fully understand the procedures employed for assaying of tin content and other elements in concentrates.
Responsible for planning and supervision of the work of subordinates and to ensure results are accurately reported.
To fulfil IMS compliance (ISO9001, ISO14001, and ISO45001) and best practices.
To carry out ad-hoc and R&D tasks assigned by superior.
To participate in OHS program established by the Company.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or other related science disciplines.
At least 3 - 5 years' work experience (and certified chemist by IKM) in manufacturing, smelting, mining, QA/QC or an analytical laboratory environment.
Hands-on experience in laboratory analytical instruments such as Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES), XRF Spectrometer, AAS, ICP-OES or other related laboratory equipment.
Knowledge of wet chemistry analysis, sample preparation, laboratory calibration and troubleshooting techniques.
Exposure to IMS/ISO standards and to laboratory safety practices would be an advantage.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and reporting skills with attention to detail.
Positive attitude, self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Good communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interact with all levels of employees.
Able to supervise laboratory activities and ensure the accuracy of analytical results within the required timeline.
