Job summary

Sumimetal Industries (M) Sdn. Bhd. in Melaka is seeking a Quality Assurance Executive to oversee inspection, testing, and ISO 9001 compliance across the smelting, refining and casting processes.

You will manage documentation, audits, and training, supervise shift workers, and contribute to continuous quality improvement through strong English and Bahasa Malaysia communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, or related field.
• Fresh graduates encouraged to apply; 1–2 years working experience is beneficial.
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia; strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform sampling, in-process monitoring, and final inspection of materials to ensure they meet chemical and physical specifications.
• Conduct or supervise metallurgical testing.
• Maintain, audit, and improve QMS standards such as ISO 9001.
• Identify non-conforming materials, place them on hold, and investigate root causes using QC tools (e.g., Pareto analysis, fishbone diagrams).
• Develop, update, and review SOPs, work instructions, and laboratory records to ensure compliance.
• Conduct internal audits and supplier evaluations to ensure raw materials adhere to company requirements.
• Supervise shift workers, assign tasks, and ensure proper manpower allocation.
• Train workers in SOPs and safety protocols.
• Willing to participate in company activities/events and lead by example.

Sumimetal Industries (M) Sdn. Bhd. (SMI) was established in 1990 as a joint-venture arrangement between P.P.Steel Group, Nagoya Alumi Centre Co. Ltd. and Sumikin Bussan International. Now, with annual production capacity of 30,000MT, SMI is one of the state-of-the-art integrated leading aluminium smelting plant in Malaysia, Bukit Rambai Industrial Area, Melaka.

A Quality Assurance Executive in the smelting industry responsible for ensuring that all metal products comply with strict internal, customer, and international quality standards throughout the smelting, refining and casting processes

Process & Product Inspection: Perform sampling, in-process monitoring, and final inspection of materials to ensure they meet chemical and physical specifications.

Lab Testing & Analysis: Conduct or supervise metallurgical testing.

Quality Management Systems (QMS): Maintain, audit, and improve QMS standards such as ISO 9001.

Defect Management: Identify non-conforming materials, place them on hold, and investigate root causes using tools like QC tools (e.g., Pareto analysis, fishbone diagrams).

Documentation Control: Develop, update, and review SOPs, work instructions, and laboratory records to ensure compliance.

People Management:

Requirements & Skills:-

Academy : Possess at least Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, or related manufacturing discipline.

Experience : Fresh graduates encouraged to apply. Possess 1-2 years working experience in related field is beneficial.

Skills : Able to communicate in English & Bahasa Malaysia

Proficiency in relevant software and tools for production planning and reporting.
