Job summary

Toh Soon Cafe SDN BHD is seeking a kitchen assistant to support daily food preparation and cooking tasks. You will wash, cut, portion, marinate ingredients and ensure dishes adhere to recipes and quality standards.

The role requires maintaining cleanliness, assisting with plating, and following hygiene and safety guidelines in a fast-paced cafe environment. Ideal candidates are reliable, punctual team players willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen or F&B experience is preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene is an advantage.
• Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Fit and able to stand for long periods.
• Responsible, punctual, and a good team player.
• Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist the chef with daily food preparation and cooking tasks.
• Prepare ingredients, including washing, cutting, portioning, and marinating.
• Ensure food is prepared according to the café’s recipes and quality standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, workstations, and equipment.
• Assist with plating and food presentation during service.
• Monitor ingredient freshness and support stock rotation (FIFO).
• Receive and store deliveries following food safety guidelines.
• Wash kitchen utensils, cookware, and equipment when required.
• Follow food hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures at all times.
• Support the kitchen team with other operational duties as assigned.
