Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Kitchen Assistant or similar food prep role.
• Basic knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen sanitation practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment whilst maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and ability to take direction from senior kitchen staff.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Willingness to learn and develop culinary skills under guidance of experienced chefs.
• Team player mentality with a positive attitude towards supporting colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Preparing ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning vegetables, meats and other food items.
• Assisting chefs and cooks with the preparation and assembly of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
• Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen workspace, including washing dishes, utensils, equipment and work surfaces.
• Managing waste disposal and recycling in compliance with food safety regulations and company policies.
• Receiving and storing ingredients and supplies in appropriate locations, checking for quality and expiration dates.
• Supporting the efficient flow of kitchen operations by responding promptly to requests from senior kitchen staff.
• Monitoring stock levels and assisting with inventory management and ordering when required.
• Adhering to all food safety and health and hygiene standards, including proper handling of raw and cooked foods.
• Operating kitchen equipment safely and responsibly under supervision.
• Assisting with the setup and breakdown of kitchen areas before and after service periods.
