Job summary

Mak and Mak Consulting PLT is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support daily culinary operations in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. This full-time role focuses on food preparation, hygiene, and teamwork to deliver high-quality dining experiences.

You will assist chefs, maintain cleanliness, manage supplies, and help with inventory while following safety protocols and working shifts as required.

Qualifications

• Experience as Kitchen Assistant or similar role preferred.
• Basic knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen sanitation.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen with attention to detail.
• Strong communication and ability to take direction from senior staff.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Willingness to learn and develop culinary skills.
• Team player with a positive attitude and reliability.
• Punctual and professional demeanor.
• Ability to follow instructions and kitchen procedures.
• Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning vegetables, meats and other food items.
• Assist chefs and cooks with preparation and assembly of dishes according to recipes and standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, including washing dishes and surfaces.
• Manage waste disposal and recycling per food safety regulations and policies.
• Receive and store ingredients and supplies, check quality and expiry dates.
• Support efficient kitchen operations by responding to requests from senior staff.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management and ordering when required.
• Adhere to all food safety and health standards, including handling of raw/cooked foods.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely under supervision.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of kitchen areas before and after service.
