You will monitor residents, assist with nighttime routines, respond to call bells, and document care provided for handover to the day shift. The ideal candidate holds at least an SPM/high school certificate, with caregiving or nursing aide certification preferred, and has 2 years of caregiving experience
We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Night Shift Caregiver to join our Elder Care Centre. The successful candidate will ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of elderly residents throughout the night, providing attentive care and swift response to any needs or emergencies while other staff and residents rest.
Monitor residents throughout the night, conducting regular room checks (e.g., every 1-2 hours) to ensure safety and comfort
Assist residents with nighttime routines, including toileting, repositioning, and settling back to sleep
Respond promptly to call bells, alarms, or resident requests during the night
Administer night-time medications as prescribed and instructed by nursing staff
Assist with changing incontinence products, bedding, or clothing as needed to maintain hygiene and comfort
Monitor residents for signs of distress, discomfort, falls, or medical emergencies, and respond according to protocol
Reposition immobile or bedridden residents periodically to prevent bedsores (pressure ulcers)
Maintain a calm, quiet, and safe environment conducive to residents' rest
Document observations, incidents, and care provided in nightly logs/reports for handover to day shift staff
Assist in emergency situations (falls, medical distress, fire, etc.) and follow established emergency protocols
Ensure common areas and resident rooms remain clean, safe, and free of hazards during the night
Provide reassurance and comfort to residents who may experience nighttime anxiety, confusion, or difficulty sleeping (e.g., due to dementia)
Conduct handover briefings with the incoming day shift, communicating any concerns or incidents
Education & Certification
Minimum SPM/high school certificate; caregiving or nursing aide certification preferred
Basic First Aid / CPR certification is an advantage
Experience
2 years of caregiving experience (fresh candidates welcome with willingness to train)
Prior experience in elder care, home care, or hospital settings is an advantage
Skills & Attributes

Ability to stay alert and responsive throughout night shift hours
Good observational and communication skills
Basic understanding of elderly care needs (mobility issues, dementia, incontinence care)
Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision during night hours
Physically fit to assist with resident mobility, lifting, and repositioning
Calm and composed under pressure, especially during emergencies
Willingness to work overnight shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required
