Job summary

MAI Automation Technology Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a proactive Buyer in Penang to source mechanical, electrical, automation, and fabrication parts, issue POs, and coordinate with engineering and warehouse teams. Mandarin proficiency is essential for supplier coordination and negotiation.

You will liaise with suppliers on pricing and lead times, track deliveries, maintain records, and support cost control and supplier performance improvement for automation projects.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or related field.
• 3–4 years purchasing/procurement experience in automation/manufacturing.
• Familiar with import/export processes and Incoterms.
• Strong negotiation and coordination skills.
• Mandarin proficiency preferred for communication.

This role involves sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating materials and components, with frequent communication with suppliers. Mandarin proficiency is essential for effective supplier coordination and negotiation.

Key Responsibilities

Source mechanical, electrical, automation, and fabrication parts

Liaise with suppliers on pricing, lead times, technical clarifications, and delivery

Coordinate the sourcing and fabrication of parts to meet drawings, specifications, and project requirements

Prepare purchase orders (POs) and follow up on order status

Coordinate with engineering, project, and warehouse teams

Monitor deliveries and resolve supply, quality, or documentation issues

Maintain purchasing records, supplier data, and cost tracking

Support cost control and supplier performance improvement

Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field

Added advantages to communicated in Mandarin (spoken & written)

Able to communicate in English and Bahasa Malaysia

3–4 years of purchasing/procurement experience (automation/manufacturing preferred)

Familiar with import/export processes, Incoterms, and supplier management

Strong negotiation and coordination skills
