Primary Guard Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a driven Business Development Executive in Malaysia to open new accounts and grow revenue across enterprise, mid-market and public-sector customers. You will own the full sales cycle—from prospecting to close—working with lead-gen, pre-sales, and partner teams.
Cybersecurity experience is a strong advantage, but candidates with a proven IT solutions sales track record will be considered. Expect travel as needed.
Primary Guard is a cybersecurity Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) headquartered in Kuala Lumpur. We help Malaysian enterprise and government organisations protect their people, data and infrastructure through managed security services and solutions from leading global technology partners — covering areas such as identity and access management, endpoint protection, web application and DDoS protection, and data loss prevention.
Role Summary
We are looking for a driven, hunting-oriented Business Development Executive to open new accounts and grow revenue across enterprise, mid-market and public-sector customers. You will own the full sales cycle — from prospecting and discovery through to proposal, negotiation and close — working closely with our lead-generation specialists, pre-sales engineers and technology partners.
Cybersecurity experience is a strong advantage, but we will consider candidates with a proven B2B / IT solutions sales track record who are eager to build deep security knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, qualify and win new customers in assigned verticals or territories (e.g. financial services, healthcare, logistics, education, government and GLCs).
Build and maintain a healthy pipeline through outbound prospecting, referrals, partner leads, events and leads handed over by the lead-generation team.
Run discovery meetings to understand customer business needs, security risks, compliance obligations and current technology stack.
Position Primary Guard's managed services and partner solutions as a clear answer to the customer's business and compliance problems.
Prepare and present tailored proposals, quotations and solution presentations together with pre-sales and technical teams.
Respond to RFQs, RFPs and tenders (including government procurement processes such as ePerolehan where relevant) on time and to specification.
Coordinate proof-of-concepts (POCs) and demos with pre-sales and vendor partners, ensuring clear success criteria and follow-through to close.
Negotiate commercial terms and close deals in line with pricing and margin guidelines.
Partner and vendor collaboration
Work closely with technology partners and distributors on joint account planning, deal registration, pricing and co-selling activities.
Keep up to date with partner programmes, certifications and incentives, and use them to win and grow deals.
Hand over new customers smoothly to delivery / SOC teams and remain the commercial point of contact.
Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities (additional modules, managed services, renewals) within existing accounts.
Build long-term, trusted relationships with IT managers, CISOs, CIOs, procurement and business decision-makers.
Pipeline management and reporting
Keep CRM records accurate and up to date — activities, opportunities, stages and forecasts.
Deliver weekly pipeline updates and monthly / quarterly forecasts to the Head of Sales & BD.
Meet or exceed assigned targets for revenue, new logos, pipeline and activity.
Market presence
Represent Primary Guard at industry events, partner sessions, seminars and customer workshops.
Share market intelligence on competitors, pricing trends and customer needs with management.
Requirements
Must have
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, IT, Computer Science or a related field.
2–5 years of B2B sales or business development experience, ideally in IT solutions, software (SaaS), telecommunications or managed services.
Proven track record of hunting new business and meeting or exceeding sales targets.
Experience managing a complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycle from lead to close.
Strong presentation, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
Comfortable with CRM tools and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace.
Self-motivated, organised and resilient, with a strong sense of ownership.
Own transport and willingness to travel.
Add-on: Cybersecurity experience (strong advantage)
Candidates with any of the following will be given priority:
1+ years selling cybersecurity solutions or services — e.g. at an MSSP, security system integrator, reseller, distributor or security vendor.
Working knowledge of key security areas such as:
Identity & access management (IAM), SSO, MFA and Zero Trust
Endpoint protection / EDR / XDR
Web application firewall (WAF), DDoS protection and network security
Data loss prevention (DLP) and data protection
SIEM, SOC and managed detection & response (MDR)
Ability to talk about cyber risk in business terms — impact on operations, reputation and compliance — not just product features.
Familiarity with Malaysian regulatory and compliance frameworks, such as the Cyber Security Act 2024 (NCII), PDPA 2010 (and its 2024 amendments), BNM RMiT, ISO/IEC 27001, and PCI DSS.
Existing relationships with enterprise or public-sector IT and security decision-makers in Malaysia.
Vendor sales certifications or accreditations from recognised security vendors, or an entry-level industry certification (e.g. CompTIA Security+, ISC2 CC) — or willingness to obtain them within the first 6 months.
