Spruson & Ferguson Asia is seeking a Business Development Assistant to join our Asia team in Kuala Lumpur. This entry-level role offers broad exposure to BD across the Asia-Pacific region and a path to develop practical skills in a leading IP firm.

You will assist with market research, client materials, conferences, and cross-border BD initiatives while learning from senior colleagues and mentors in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Fresh graduates or early-career candidates welcome with relevant internships.
• Degree in Business, Marketing or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support development of client-facing materials (capability statements, proposals, presentations, RfPs, tenders).
• Coordinate and support international conferences, client visits and events.
• Conduct market, client and competitor research to support opportunities and planning.
• Monitor industry data to inform BD strategies.
• Maintain CRM systems and marketing databases; support reporting templates.
• Aid internal reporting and KPI tracking for senior stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Asia-Pacific BD colleagues on cross-border initiatives.
• Provide general administrative support to the Asia BD team.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Business Development Assistant to join our Asia team in Kuala Lumpur. This is a newly created role within our growing Business Development team, providing an opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to build their career and gain broad exposure to business development across the Asia-Pacific region.

You will support a range of regional business development initiatives, including market research, data analysis and coordination of business development activities. You will work closely with Business Development colleagues across Asia and collaborate with Practice Group Leaders, Principals, attorneys, and the wider Business Development and Marketing teams across Asia-Pacific.

We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive and keen to learn. With guidance and support from the team, you will develop practical business development skills while contributing to new business opportunities and client development initiatives across the region.

What You'll Do

• Support the development of client-facing materials, including capability statements, proposals, presentations, and responses to RfPs and government tenders.
• Coordinate and support the execution of international conferences, client visits, and related events.
• Conduct market, client, and competitor research to support new business opportunities and strategic planning.
• Monitor industry data and trends to provide insights that inform business development strategies.
• Maintain and update business development tools, including CRM systems, marketing databases, and reporting templates.
• Support internal reporting, including tracking KPIs for senior stakeholders.
• Collaborate with business development colleagues across the Asia-Pacific region to support cross-border initiatives.
• Provide general administrative and coordination support to the Asia Business Development team.

What You Bring

• Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.
• Up to two years of relevant work experience in business development, professional services, or a related field preferred. Fresh graduates with relevant internship experience are encouraged to apply.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Strong written and spoken English skills; proficiency in Mandarin will be highly valued.
• Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities, with strong attention to detail and a positive attitude.
• A proactive, self-starter mindset with strong time management skills.
