Job summary

Green Island Feed Mills Sdn Bhd in Malaysia seeks a skilled Steam Boiler Operator to ensure a safe, continuous steam supply for feed production. You will operate, monitor, and adjust boilers, perform routine checks, and maintain logs.

The role requires DOSH/JKKP registration, 2–3 years' hands-on boiler experience, and flexibility for shifts, overtime, and weekend work in a manufacturing plant. Experience in water treatment and safety controls is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum SPM or equivalent. A technical certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is an advantage.
• Possess a valid DOSH/JKKP Steam Boiler Operator competency registration at the grade required for the company’s boiler.
• Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in steam boiler operation.
• Experience in feed milling, food manufacturing, agriculture, or process manufacturing is preferred.
• Sound knowledge of boiler operation, water treatment, safety controls, and emergency procedures.
• Able to identify operating abnormalities, perform basic troubleshooting, and coordinate corrective action.
• Able to maintain boiler logbooks and prepare daily operating reports.
• Responsible, safety-conscious, and able to work independently and coordinate with other teams.
• Willing to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and public holidays when required.
• Able to work in a hot, dusty, noisy, and physically demanding manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor steam boilers to ensure a safe, reliable, and continuous steam supply for feed mill production.
• Perform boiler start-up, shutdown, and routine operating checks according to approved procedures.
• Monitor steam pressure, temperature, water levels, fuel consumption, and boiler performance.
• Carry out boiler water testing, water treatment, and blowdown according to established procedures.
• Inspect boilers and related equipment, including pumps, valves, gauges, piping, and safety devices, and promptly report abnormalities.
• Coordinate with the Production team to maintain the required steam supply for feed conditioning and pelleting processes.
• Support preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and servicing activities with the Maintenance team and authorized contractors.
• Maintain accurate boiler logbooks, daily operating records, and proper shift handovers.
• Follow DOSH/JKKP requirements, company safety procedures, and emergency response procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in the boiler house and surrounding areas.
• Monitor fuel and water usage and support improvements to boiler efficiency.
• Perform other boiler- and utility-related duties assigned by the immediate superior within the employee’s competency and authorization.
