Job summary

Frencken Mechatronics (M) Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a bending operator to set up and operate bending machines, read drawings, and ensure parts meet specifications. You will adjust tooling and machine parameters, measure tolerances, and inspect bent components for quality.

The role requires basic problem solving and adherence to safety procedures. Candidates with at least 1 year in metal fabrication or sheet metal environments and familiarity with bending processes will be preferred.

Qualifications

• Technical or vocational certification in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Metal Fabrication or related field is advantageous.
• Minimum 1 year in manufacturing, metal fabrication, sheet metal or similar production environment.
• Experience operating bending machines preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor bending machines to bend metal sheets per specifications.
• Set up dies, tools, and machine parameters for required dimensions and angles.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and production specs.
• Select dies/tools based on material type, thickness, and job requirements.

Job description

Operate and monitor bending machines to bend metal sheets, plates, and other materials according to production specifications and work instructions.

Set up and adjust bending machines, dies, tools, and machine parameters to achieve the required dimensions and bending angles.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and production specifications.

Select appropriate tools, dies, and machine settings based on material type, thickness, and job requirements.

Perform measurements and dimensional checks using appropriate measuring instruments to ensure products meet specified tolerances.

Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy, bending quality, and conformity to customer and production requirements.

Identify and report machine, tooling, material, or quality issues to the supervisor.

Carry out basic machine troubleshooting and ensure machines and tools are maintained in good working condition.

Follow established safety procedures, housekeeping standards, and company work instructions at all times.

Maintain accurate production records and complete relevant documentation as required.

Support other production activities or tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

Education:

Technical or vocational certification in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Metal Fabrication, or a related field will be an added advantage.

Working Experience:

Minimum 1 year of working experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, sheet metal, or a related production environment.

Candidates with relevant experience in operating bending machines will be preferred.

Knowledge & Skills:

Basic knowledge of metal bending processes, machines, tooling, and equipment.

Able to read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.

Familiar with setting up and operating bending machines.

Able to accurately measure and check dimensions, angles, and tolerances.

Basic knowledge of different metal types and their bending characteristics.

Able to select suitable dies, tools, and machine settings according to job requirements.

Basic understanding of quality control and inspection procedures.

Able to use basic measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, measuring tapes, or angle gauges.

Good attention to detail and able to identify defects or dimensional deviations.

Able to work independently as well as in a team.

Willing to work in a production/manufacturing environment and comply with safety requirements.
