Job summary

ZHENGXI Technology Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a skilled Bending Machine Operator (Sheet Metal). You will operate CNC press brakes, read drawings, set up tooling, and ensure produced parts meet customer specs.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years experience, a technical diploma, and is comfortable with inspection, quality checks, and overtime. Training provided, safe working environment.

Qualifications

• SPM/Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of working experience as Bending Machine Operator or sheet metal fabrication technician.
• Experience operating CNC Press Brake / Hydraulic Bending Machine preferred.
• Able to read and understand engineering drawings and fabrication drawings.
• Knowledge of bending processes, tooling selection and tolerances.
• Willing to work overtime and maintain quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC Press Brake / Bending Machines to form sheet metal parts according to drawings.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings and work instructions.
• Set up dies, punches and tooling; adjust material alignment.
• Perform first-piece inspection and in-process checks for accuracy.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and records of production output and machine conditions.

Job description

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Bending Machine Operator (Sheet Metal) to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating CNC bending machines, preparing machine setups, interpreting engineering drawings, and ensuring sheet metal components are produced accurately according to customer specifications and quality requirements.

Responsibilities:

Operate and monitor CNC Press Brake / Bending Machines to perform sheet metal bending operations.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, and work instructions.

Determine bending sequence, bending angles, dimensions, and tooling requirements based on drawings.

Perform machine setup including:

Selecting suitable dies and punches

Installing and adjusting tooling

Material positioning and alignment

Operate bending machines to produce components according to required specifications and tolerances.

Perform bending operations for various sheet metal materials such as:

Mild Steel

Stainless Steel

Aluminum

Conduct first-piece inspection and in-process quality checks to ensure accuracy.

Measure finished components using precision measuring tools such as:

Measuring tape

Micrometer

Monitor machine performance and identify abnormal conditions during operation.

Perform basic troubleshooting and coordinate with maintenance team when required.

Carry out routine machine checks and preventive maintenance activities.

Maintain accurate records of production output, material usage, and machine conditions.

Ensure proper handling of materials to prevent scratches, deformation, or quality issues.

Maintain a clean and organized working area according to safety standards.

Follow company SOP, safety regulations, and proper PPE requirements.

Work independently or as part of a team to achieve daily production targets.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum SPM / Certificate / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.

Minimum 2 years of working experience as Bending Machine Operator, Press Brake Operator, or Sheet Metal Fabrication Technician.

Experience operating CNC Press Brake / Hydraulic Bending Machine is preferred.

Able to read and understand engineering drawings and fabrication drawings.

Good knowledge of sheet metal bending processes, tooling selection, and bending calculations.

Familiar with bending angles, material thickness, and dimensional tolerances.

Able to use precision measuring tools for quality inspection.

Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Able to work independently with minimum supervision.

Willing to work overtime when required.

Good discipline and commitment to production quality.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with CNC bending machines such as:

Amada

Bystronic

Other CNC Press Brake systems

Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes including:

Laser cutting

Welding

Grinding

Ability to operate other conventional machines is an added advantage.

Experience handling different sheet metal thicknesses and materials.

Familiar with production improvement and reducing material waste.
