Job summary

KORNER BISTRO in Bayan Lepas, Penang, is seeking an experienced Bar Manager to lead our bar team, oversee operations and ensure exceptional service.

You will manage inventory, prepare cocktails, ensure health and safety compliance, and drive revenue through events and promotions. This role requires strong leadership, POS proficiency, and a customer-focused approach to build lasting relationships.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Bar Manager or in a senior bar position within a hospitality setting.
• Strong knowledge of drinks, cocktails, spirits and wine, with the ability to make recommendations to customers.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
• Proficiency in POS systems and basic financial management.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, and responsible alcohol service practices.
• Problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
• Flexibility to work evening, weekend and public holiday shifts as required.
• Certification in responsible beverage service or bartending qualifications (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train bar staff to deliver consistent customer service.
• Manage bar inventory and place beverage orders.
• Prepare and serve cocktails, wines and other beverages.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and licensing regulations.
• Oversee till operations, cash handling and daily reconciliations.
• Create events, themed nights and promotions to boost revenue.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting bar area.
• Build relationships with customers to encourage loyalty.
• Conduct stock takes and manage waste to maximise profitability.
• Report bar performance metrics and suggest improvements.
