Job summary

Actmax Limited in Malaysia is seeking an Automation Engineer (Design) to design, develop, and implement automated systems. You will drive electrical/control architectures, PLC/HMI/SCADA solutions, and robot-enabled processes to improve efficiency and reliability.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering and 3–7 years in industrial automation, with strong PLC/HMI skills and experience reading schematics. Collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and production teams is key.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or related field.
• Typically 3–7 years in industrial automation, machine design or controls.
• Strong PLC programming experience and control systems knowledge.
• Ability to read and develop electrical schematics and drawings.
• Experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Omron or similar PLCs.
• HMI/SCADA experience with Siemens WinCC, FactoryTalk, Ignition, or similar.
• Knowledge of Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, IO-Link.

Responsibilities

• Design automation systems, machine controls, and electrical architectures.
• Develop PLC, HMI, SCADA, motion control, and robotic solutions.
• Prepare electrical schematics, control-panel layouts, I/O lists, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Select appropriate PLCs, sensors, motors, drives, actuators, safety devices, and other automation components
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI programs based on machine and process requirements
• Design control panels and electrical systems in accordance with applicable standards and company requirements
• Integrate automation equipment with existing production lines and manufacturing systems
• Conduct design calculations, risk assessments, and technical evaluations
• Perform simulation, testing, commissioning, and debugging of automation systems
• Work closely with mechanical, electrical, process, production, and maintenance teams
