Job summary

Koon Seng Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking an Automation Executive to support, maintain, and improve glove production automation. You will work on stripping, stacking, packaging lines, AI vision systems, PLC/HMI, and sensors to boost stability, reduce downtime, and enhance product quality.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, process improvement, project installation and commissioning, and ensuring safety compliance while coordinating with production, maintenance, QA, and vendors.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, Mechanical, Electronics or related field.
• Experience in glove manufacturing or automation equipment is an advantage.
• Knowledge of PLC, HMI, sensors, servo motors, inverters, pneumatic systems and control panels.
• Knowledge of AI vision systems, camera inspection or image inspection systems is a plus.
• Able to read electrical drawings and basic control diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Support automation machine operation and improvements for glove production lines.
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, sensors, servo motors, inverters, and pneumatic systems.
• Assist in AI vision inspection system setup, calibration, and performance reporting.
• Carry out preventive maintenance, keep records, and propose improvements.
• Work with production, maintenance, QA, and vendors on projects and upgrades.
• Ensure safety devices and lock-out/tag-out procedures are followed.

Job description

The Automation Executive is responsible for supporting, maintaining, improving, and troubleshooting automation systems used in glove manufacturing, including glove stripping machines, stacking machines, packing-related automation, AI vision inspection systems, sensors, PLC control systems, HMI, servo motors, pneumatic systems, and related production equipment.

The role focuses on improving machine stability, reducing downtime, increasing productivity, improving product quality, and supporting continuous automation improvement in the production line.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Automation Machine Support

Monitor and support daily operation of automation equipment such as glove stripping machines, stacking machines, AI vision inspection systems, conveyor systems, sensors, and other automated production equipment.

Troubleshoot machine breakdowns related to PLC, HMI, servo motor, inverter, sensors, pneumatic systems, electrical control panels, and communication systems.

Work closely with production and maintenance teams to reduce machine downtime and improve machine efficiency.

Ensure automation machines operate safely, smoothly, and according to production requirements.

2. Glove Stripping and Stacking Machine Control

Support the operation and performance improvement of glove stripping machines and stacking machines.

Identify causes of poor stripping, glove misalignment, stacking defects, jam issues, counting errors, and machine stoppages.

Adjust machine parameters such as timing, speed, sensor position, air pressure, conveyor speed, and stacking sequence when required.

Assist in machine modification and improvement projects to improve output, reduce rejection, and reduce manual handling.

3. AI Vision Inspection System

Support AI vision systems used for glove defect detection, counting, sorting, and inspection.

Assist in camera setup, lighting adjustment, image quality checking, calibration, and basic defect classification support.

Coordinate with system vendors or internal technical teams for AI model improvement, false rejection reduction, and detection accuracy improvement.

Monitor AI vision performance and report abnormalities such as high false reject rate, missed defects, poor image capture, or unstable inspection results.

4. Preventive Maintenance and Machine Reliability

Carry out preventive maintenance for automation systems according to schedule.

Inspect sensors, cables, pneumatic components, motors, belts, bearings, control panels, cameras, lighting, and safety devices.

Keep proper records of maintenance activity, breakdown history, spare parts replacement, and improvement actions.

Recommend critical spare parts for automation machines to minimize downtime.

5. Process Improvement and Automation Projects

Support automation improvement projects to increase productivity, reduce manpower dependency, and improve product consistency.

Study machine performance and propose improvement ideas for cycle time reduction, downtime reduction, and quality improvement.

Assist in installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of new automation equipment.

Work with vendors, contractors, production, QA, and maintenance teams during machine upgrade or new project implementation.

6. Safety and Compliance

Ensure all automation equipment complies with company safety requirements.

Check and maintain safety devices such as emergency stop buttons, safety sensors, guards, interlocks, and warning systems.

Support machine risk assessment and ensure safe working practices during troubleshooting and maintenance.

Follow lock-out/tag-out procedures when performing electrical or mechanical work.

7. Documentation and Reporting

Prepare daily, weekly, or monthly reports on automation machine performance, downtime, breakdown causes, improvement actions, and project progress.

Maintain technical documents such as wiring diagrams, PLC backup files, HMI settings, machine parameter records, preventive maintenance checklists, and troubleshooting guides.

Report repeated problems and propose corrective and preventive actions.

Requirements:

Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.

Experience in glove manufacturing, automation machinery, production equipment, or industrial maintenance is an advantage.

Knowledge of PLC, HMI, sensors, servo motors, inverters, pneumatic systems, control panels, and machine troubleshooting.

Knowledge of AI vision systems, camera inspection, lighting setup, or image inspection systems will be an added advantage.

Able to read electrical drawings, machine drawings, and basic control circuit diagrams.

Able to work with production teams, maintenance teams, vendors, and management.

Good problem-solving skills and hands‑on troubleshooting ability.

Willing to support machine breakdowns and production issues when required.

Preferred Skills:

PLC troubleshooting and basic programming knowledge.

HMI operation and parameter adjustment.

Servo motor and inverter setting knowledge.

Pneumatic system troubleshooting.

Sensor selection, alignment, and calibration.

Basic understanding of machine safety systems.

AI vision camera setup and inspection system support.

Data analysis for downtime, rejection, and machine performance improvement.
