Job summary

Flex is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer in Batu Kawan, Penang to specify, design and maintain automation equipment and applications for manufacturing.

You will design and modify moderately complex automation systems, develop technical manuals and preventive maintenance plans, ensure machine uptime, and collaborate with engineering and operations to deliver effective automation that supports production goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or similar field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in automation engineering in high-tech electronics.
• Mechatronics design experience, including robot/cobot implementations.
• Automated control and PLC programming experience.
• Experience with devices that include automatic camera recognition.
• Circuit design skills for equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and modify automation equipment, tooling and applications to automate manufacturing processes.
• Establish technical manuals, drawings, models, training documentation, maintenance plans and troubleshooting guides.
• Maintain machine uptime through preventive and breakdown maintenance.
• Learn and enhance skills across all types of automation equipment.
• Provide feedback to improve process and equipment design.
• Direct daily department activities to maximize equipment utilization for production needs.
• Coordinate maintenance with engineering and operations for efficient automation operations.
• Contribute to planning and maintaining the Automation framework for new products.
• Identify and drive changes to improve automation effectiveness and respond to customer requirements.

Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Senior Automation Engineer located in Batu Kawan, Penang.

Responsible for specifying, designing and maintaining automation equipment, tooling and applications as required to meet specifications.

What a typical day looks like:

• Design, engineer, and modify existing and new moderately complex automation equipment, tooling and applications to automate manufacturing processes.
• Establish technical manuals, drawings, models, training documentation, preventative maintenance plans and troubleshooting guides for automated equipment and automated processes.
• Understand the machine operating standards, on sequence of wear and tear parts and product defects
• Ensure the uptime of machines through regular preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance
• Should be willing to learn & enhance the skill in all type of Automation equipment.
• Should prepare why-why evaluation & drive for permanent corrective actions.
• Should be able to give feedback to improve the design of process and equipment.
• Directs daily department activities to maximize equipment utilization and support production needs
• Coordinates maintenance activities with other functional groups such as engineering and operations to ensure the efficient operation of the departmental function.
• Collaborates and offers input to planning, building, and maintaining the Automation framework and associated processes for new products.
• Identifies and drives change to ensure automation effectiveness of existing processes.
• Demonstrates a thorough understanding of customer requirements and proactively provides suggestions and ideas to deliver the most effective automation solutions.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar field.
• Requires at least 5 years of experience in automation engineering in the high technology electronics is a MUST
• industry or related area.
• Mechatronics design (experience in implementing Robot/Cobot etc.)
• Automated control (PLC programing, etc)
• Experience in developing devices that include automatic camera recognition.
• Circuit design skills for equipment.
