The Automation Engineer (Design) is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automated systems, machinery, and control solutions to improve manufacturing efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and reliability.
Key responsibilities
- Design automation systems, machine controls, and electrical/control architectures
- Develop PLC, HMI, SCADA, motion control, and robotic solutions
- Prepare electrical schematics, control-panel layouts, I/O lists, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
- Select appropriate PLCs, sensors, motors, drives, actuators, safety devices, and other automation components
- Develop and modify PLC and HMI programs based on machine and process requirements
- Design control panels and electrical systems in accordance with applicable standards and company requirements
- Integrate automation equipment with existing production lines and manufacturing systems
- Conduct design calculations, risk assessments, and technical evaluations
- Perform simulation, testing, commissioning, and debugging of automation systems
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, process, production, and maintenance teams
Requirement
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field
- Typically 3-7 years of experience in industrial automation, machine design, controls engineering, or manufacturing
- Strong experience in PLC programming and industrial control systems
- Experience designing electrical/control systems and automation solutions
- Ability to read and develop electrical schematics and engineering drawings
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation components and control technologies
- PLC experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Omron, or similar
- HMI/SCADA experience with Siemens WinCC, FactoryTalk, Ignition, or similar
- Experience with servo and motion control systems, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and industrial robots and vision systems
- Knowledge of industrial communication networks such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, and IO-Link
