Job summary

AIG Malaysia Insurance Berhad is seeking an experienced Underwriter for Auto and Personal Property based in Kuala Lumpur. The role focuses on underwriting performance, governance, and portfolio management within Malaysia, with extensive collaboration across stakeholders to achieve top-line and bottom-line results.

You will review referrals, update guidelines, and support pricing initiatives while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Three plus years of proven experience in insurance preferably in Auto and Personal Property underwriting.
• Strong relationship-building with customers and intermediaries across a broad range of stakeholders.
• Proven technical skills and acumen in underwriting risks and driving for results.
• Highly collaborative across functions; able to work independently or in a team.
• Good verbal and written communication skills; English fluency required.

Responsibilities

• Accountability for underwriting performance with respect to topline, profitability and loss ratio.
• Support the implementation of underwriting growth and best practices for quality underwriting, risk selection, rating and pricing adequacy.
• Apply and adhere to Underwriting Authority framework and delegation of authority.
• Review new and renewal underwriting referrals and provide timely approvals or modifications.
• Support updates to underwriting guidelines, policies, and processes to comply with regulatory requirements.
• Support operational execution of underwriting processes, including system enhancements and customer satisfaction metrics.
• Assist pricing and portfolio management analyses to assess performance and trends.
• Support audits and action plans based on findings; participate in product development and training initiatives.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and AIG standards.
