ECOVIS MALAYSIA PLT - ANSON ROAD in George Town, Penang is seeking an experienced Audit Associate or Audit Senior to join our External Audit team in a full-time role on Penang Island. You will contribute to governance and risk management, providing independent assurance and advisory services to senior management and the board.

The role involves conducting audits, planning fieldwork, analyzing data, reporting findings, and mentoring junior staff, with opportunities for professional development

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• Professional accounting or auditing qualification (ACCA, CA, CPA) desirable.
• 1-3 years of experience for Audit Associate; 4+ years for Audit Senior.
• Strong knowledge of audit standards, frameworks, and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive audit engagements across departments and functions following established methodologies.
• Plan and execute audit fieldwork, including testing of internal controls, compliance procedures, and operational efficiency.
• Perform detailed analysis of financial and operational data to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Document audit findings and prepare clear, professional audit reports with actionable recommendations for management.
• Follow up on management's implementation of audit recommendations and verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
• Collaborate with management to understand business processes and identify audit areas of focus.
• Maintain independence and objectivity while conducting audit activities and reporting findings.
• Stay current with audit standards, regulations, and best practices relevant to internal audit.

About the role

ECOVIS MALAYSIA PLT - ANSON ROAD at 144-B, Jalan Anson, 10400 George Town, Penang is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Audit Associate or Audit Senior possess the health, energy, and resilience necessary to perform essential job functions effectively to join our External Audit team. This is a full-time position based in Penang Island, Penang. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our organisation's governance and risk management framework, providing independent assurance and advisory services to senior management and the board. Your work will directly contribute to strengthening our internal controls, ensuring compliance with regulations, and identifying opportunities for operational improvements across the business.

Key responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive audit engagements across various departments and business functions, following established audit methodologies and standards

Plan and execute audit fieldwork, including testing of internal controls, compliance procedures, and operational efficiency

Perform detailed analysis of financial and operational data to identify risks, control weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement

Document audit findings and prepare clear, professional audit reports with actionable recommendations for management

Follow up on management's implementation of audit recommendations and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions

Assist in developing and maintaining audit programmes, procedures, and documentation standards

Collaborate with management and operational teams to understand business processes and identify audit areas of focus

Maintain independence and objectivity whilst conducting audit activities and reporting findings

Stay current with audit standards, regulations, and best practices relevant to the internal audit function

Support the audit planning process and contribute to the annual audit plan development (Senior level)

Mentor and supervise junior audit staff and provide guidance on audit assignments (Senior level)

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline with :

Professional accounting or auditing qualification (e.g., ACCA, CA, CPA, or equivalent) is highly desirable

Minimum 1-3 years of experience in internal audit, external audit, or accounting roles for Audit Associate; 4+ years for Audit Senior

Strong knowledge of audit standards, frameworks, and best practices

Proficiency in audit tools and software, as well as Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex business processes

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to diverse audiences

Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and quality in all audit work

Ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively within a team environment

Professional integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Knowledge of the Malaysian regulatory environment and local compliance requirements is advantageous

Experience with risk assessment methodologies and control frameworks would strengthen your candidacy (Senior level)
