Who We Are
At Roche, high-performing digital systems and life-saving insights are built on a single essential foundation: high-fidelity, trusted, and reliable data. As we continue transforming our global digital ecosystem into a data-driven enterprise, ensuring the health, completeness, and fitness of our strategic data assets is a top priority.
We are looking for a passionate Data Quality Expert to join our team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between IT and business stakeholders, establishing end-to-end data quality frameworks, observability practices, and rule sets that empower data-driven decision-making across our global organization.
The Role: What You Will Do
You will serve as an influencer, communicator, and change manager, looking at the entire data lifecycle—from generation and acquisition to exploitation and business value.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Business Advisory & Data Quality Consulting: Partner closely with data creators, stewards, consumers, and IT teams to establish data quality dimensions, rules, and indicators that ensure our data remains usable, timely, robust, and compliant.
Framework & Policy Design: Design and maintain policies, methodologies, guidelines, and metrics for data quality, profiling, and cleansing.
Rule Definition & Profiling: Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify critical data attributes, profile datasets, analyze requirements, and translate business logic into automated data quality rules.
Root-Cause Analysis & Problem Solving: Interact directly with stakeholders to resolve data quality issues using techniques like root-cause analysis, continuously improving trust and confidence in our enterprise data products.
Platform Ownership: Utilize and manage enterprise data quality and cataloging platforms (e.g., Informatica DQ, Collibra DQ, Ataccama).
Governance Alignment: Support Data Governance teams in deploying observability practices and ensuring compliance with enterprise data quality and fitness standards.
Who You Are
You are genuinely passionate about data content and love collaborating across functions and geographies to solve complex problems. You thrive in matrix environments, comfortably balancing strategic consulting with hands-on technical analysis.
Education & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
IT / Systems Experience: 3+ years of experience in information technology, business systems analysis, or information design, with a deep understanding of end-to-end business processes.
Data Quality Experience: 2-5 years of hands-on data quality management experience, preferably in a consulting or global enterprise setting.
Domain Expertise: Domain knowledge in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is a distinct advantage.
Technical & Functional Competencies
Data Tooling: Hands-on experience with modern data quality and management platforms (e.g., Informatica DQ, Collibra DQ, Ataccama).
Data Concepts: Deep understanding of data governance, data stewardship, data cataloging, data observability, data engineering, and data integration.
Agile & Pragmatic Mindset: Focus on an Agile approach—valuing "good enough over perfection" and applying a "Reuse before Buy before Make" philosophy.
Leadership & Soft Skills
Stakeholder Engagement: Exceptional communication and consultancy skills, with the ability to translate complex technical issues into structured, business-ready solutions.
Analytical & Meticulous: Solution-oriented mindset with high attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying risks before they arise.
Global Mindset: Cultural sensitivity and fluent English skills, with experience collaborating effectively across global time zones and matrix structures.
Why Join Roche?
You will step into an environment where your work has a direct, measurable impact on how executive leaders and scientific teams use data to make decisions. We offer the freedom to pursue functional interests across geographies, continuous capability building, and a culture centered on trust, innovation, and collaboration.
