Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking an Assistant Training Manager to support the Human Resources Manager in planning, coordinating and evaluating the hotel's Learning & Development initiatives.

The role ensures all associates receive quality training that enhances service standards, operational excellence, compliance with statutory requirements, and employee engagement while supporting the hotel's business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Human Resource Management, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Education or related discipline.
  • HRD Corp Train-the-Trainer Certification an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Malaysian Employment Act, Industrial Relations and HRD Corp requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
  • Good written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the hotel’s Annual Training Calendar.
  • Conduct Training Needs Analysis (TNA) with all departments.
  • Coordinate mandatory, statutory and operational training programmes.
  • Facilitate New Associate Orientation and Onboarding programmes.
  • Deliver in-house training on customer service, hospitality standards, communication, leadership and behavioural competencies.
  • Coordinate external trainers, consultants and government agencies where applicable.
  • Support Departmental Trainers and monitor the effectiveness of departmental On-the-Job Training (OJT).
  • Ensure all associates complete mandatory induction within the stipulated timeline.
  • Conduct refresher training based on operational requirements.
  • Maintain accurate employee training records and attendance.
  • Ensure individual training files are updated and properly documented.
  • Prepare monthly Learning & Development reports for Management.
  • Monitor departmental training hours and completion rates.
  • Prepare training materials, presentations, manuals and evaluation forms.
  • Manage training schedules, venues and logistics.
  • Assist Department Heads in identifying competency gaps.
  • Support the Performance Management process by coordinating development plans arising from Performance Appraisals.
  • Track Individual Development Plans (IDP) and succession planning initiatives.
  • Coordinate supervisory and leadership development programmes.
  • Support coaching and mentoring initiatives across departments.
  • Ensure compliance with the HRD Corp requirements.
  • Coordinate statutory training relating to Occupational Safety & Health, Fire Safety, Food Hygiene, First Aid, Anti-Harassment, PDPA, Business Ethics, Security Awareness.
  • Support audit preparations relating to training documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with hotel policies, SOPs and brand standards.
  • Organise employee engagement programmes and awareness campaigns.
  • Coordinate recognition programmes and training certifications.
  • Support welfare and employee development initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and service excellence.
  • Work closely with Department Heads to improve operational performance through training.
  • Conduct regular training follow-ups to measure behavioural and operational improvements.
  • Recommend appropriate interventions to improve service quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Assist in preparing the annual Training Budget.
  • Monitor training expenditure.
  • Ensure cost-effective utilisation of training resources.
  • Source external grants and HRD Corp claimable programmes where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities
Learning & Development

  • Experience working with Department Heads and operational managers.
