An established engineering company specialising in fire fighting and fire protection systems is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to strengthen its Project Team. This role requires someone who can identify problems, coordinate people, follow up outstanding matters and drive projects towards completion—not merely monitor projects from the office.
Assist the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, executing and completing assigned projects.
Manage and coordinate day-to-day project and site activities.
Prepare and monitor project schedules, work programmes, manpower requirements and site priorities.
Monitor progress against approved schedules and proactively address delays, constraints and outstanding works.
Coordinate with clients, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and site personnel.
Attend site, coordination, technical and progress meetings and follow through on agreed action items.
Prepare progress reports, site records, work schedules, photographs and project documentation.
Review construction drawings, shop drawings, technical specifications, Bills of Quantities (BQ) and project requirements.
Coordinate material requirements, purchasing requests, delivery schedules and site availability.
Supervise subcontractors and workers to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, approved methods and schedules.
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Services or another relevant technical discipline.
Minimum THREE (3) YEARS of relevant working experience in construction, M&E, building services, fire protection or project/site management is compulsory.
Must have actual experience in site coordination and project execution, not solely administrative/project documentation experience.
Able to read and understand engineering/construction drawings and technical specifications.
Able to coordinate workers, subcontractors, suppliers, clients and consultants.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make practical decisions at site.
Able to prepare project reports and use Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of AutoCAD and project scheduling software is an added advantage.
Good leadership, communication, organisational and follow-up skills.
Able to work independently with minimum supervision and perform under project deadlines.
