About the role

TABALAN DAGANG SDN BHD is seeking an Assistant Project Engineer to join our Engineering team in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in supporting the successful delivery of engineering projects from conception through to completion. As an Assistant Project Engineer, you will work alongside senior engineers and project managers to ensure projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with specifications and timelines. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for excellence in project delivery and contributes directly to the growth and success of our organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, scheduling and coordinating project activities to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery
• Support site supervision and inspection to verify that work meets design specifications and quality standards
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including progress reports, drawings, specifications and technical records
• Conduct site surveys and measurements to support project design and implementation phases
• Liaise with contractors, suppliers and stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution
• Monitor project budgets and expenditure, assisting in cost control and variance analysis
• Assist in identifying and implementing solutions to technical challenges and project obstacles
• Support health, safety and environmental compliance on project sites
• Prepare technical correspondence, permits and submissions as required for project progression
• Attend project meetings and contribute to problem-solving and decision-making discussions

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration or eligibility to register with the appropriate professional body in Malaysia
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, project management methodologies and construction practices
• Excellent technical drawing and design software skills, including CAD applications
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and project management software
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
• Willingness to undertake site visits and field work as required
• Prior experience in project engineering, site supervision or related roles is preferred
• Knowledge of relevant Malaysian building codes, regulations and standards is advantageous
