Responsibilities

About the role

ZHAO YANG GEOTECHNIC SDN. BHD. is seeking a dedicated Project Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team based in Kuala Lumpur City Centre. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in the successful delivery of our geotechnical and engineering projects. As a Project Engineer, you will be instrumental in overseeing project execution, coordinating technical activities, and ensuring that all works are completed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on significant infrastructure and development projects across the region.

What you'll be doing

• Planning, coordinating and supervising the execution of geotechnical and engineering projects from inception through to completion
• Liaising between clients, contractors, consultants and internal teams to ensure effective communication and project alignment
• Monitoring project progress, timelines and budgets to ensure delivery within agreed parameters
• Conducting site inspections and quality audits to verify compliance with specifications and standards
• Preparing and maintaining comprehensive project documentation, reports and records
• Identifying and managing project risks, developing mitigation strategies where necessary
• Supporting the design and tender processes, including preparation of technical specifications and cost estimates
• Collaborating with engineers and technical specialists to resolve on-site challenges and optimise project outcomes
• Ensuring adherence to health, safety and environmental regulations throughout the project lifecycle
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and best practice implementation

What we're looking for

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
• Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in project engineering, preferably within the geotechnical, civil or infrastructure sectors
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical principles, foundation design and ground investigation methodologies
• Proficiency in project management practices, tools and software (such as Microsoft Project or similar platforms)
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with diverse stakeholders at all levels
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst maintaining attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with sound technical judgement
• A proactive approach to health, safety and environmental management
• Familiarity with relevant Malaysian construction standards, building codes and regulations
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Graduate Engineer status with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) is advantageous
• Proficiency in CAD software and engineering analysis tools would be highly valued
