AEM Microtronics (M) Sdn Bhd in Penang is seeking a Production Supervisor to manage daily production activities, monitor output and efficiency, and coordinate with Planning, Engineering and Quality to meet targets.
You will lead operators, plan manpower, safeguard safety, drive Lean manufacturing initiatives, track KPIs, and ensure adherence to SOPs and quality standards; willingness to work shifts is required.
• Manage daily production activities and ensure production targets are achieved according to the plan.
• Monitor production output, manpower, machine utilization, and line efficiency.
• Ensure smooth workflow and minimize production downtime and bottlenecks.
• Coordinate with Planning, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, and other departments to resolve production issues.
• Ensure proper changeover and startup activities are carried out efficiently.
• Lead, supervise, and motivate production operators and line personnel.
• Plan manpower allocation according to production requirements.
• Monitor employee attendance, performance, discipline, and productivity.
• Conduct daily briefings and communicate production priorities and company requirements.
• Identify training needs and support employee development.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive working environment.
• Ensure products are manufactured according to established specifications and quality standards.
• Work closely with the Quality team to identify and resolve quality issues.
• Ensure operators follow work instructions, SOPs, and quality procedures.
• Investigate production defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor scrap, rework, and rejection rates and drive improvement.
• Ensure compliance with company safety rules, procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Promote a strong safety culture within the production line.
• Conduct safety briefings and ensure proper use of PPE.
• Identify potential workplace hazards and take appropriate corrective action.
• Report and support investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses.
• Ensure machines and equipment are operated correctly and efficiently.
• Coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering teams on equipment breakdowns and technical issues.
• Monitor machine performance and downtime.
• Support preventive maintenance activities and ensure equipment is maintained in good operating condition.
• Identify opportunities to improve production processes and equipment performance.
• Drive initiatives to improve productivity, OEE, yield, quality, and cost.
• Identify waste and process inefficiencies and implement improvement actions.
• Participate in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement activities.
• Use production data and KPIs to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Maintain accurate production records and ensure timely reporting.
• Monitor and report key production KPIs, including output, efficiency, downtime, scrap, and quality.
• Escalate significant production, quality, safety, or manpower issues to management.
• Ensure proper completion of shift handover and production documentation
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with supervisory or team-lead experience preferred.
Experience managing production operators and manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, or similar improvement methodologies is an advantage.
Familiarity with production KPIs and manufacturing systems.
Good problem-solving, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Willingness to work shifts, overtime, weekends, or public holidays when required
