Job summary

MRT Corp is seeking an Assistant Manager, Railway Systems in Penang to support technical coordination and delivery of railway-system packages from design through testing and commissioning. You will engage with internal engineering teams, system contractors, consultants, utilities and authorities to ensure interfaces and requirements are managed and delivered.

The role includes specialist assignments for maintenance vehicles and power distribution systems, with emphasis on timely completion,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline with CGPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Experience in railway or major rail-infrastructure delivery preferred.
• Ability to review technical matters, coordinate interfaces and work with contractors.

Responsibilities

Experienced railway engineering opportunities with the Penang Mutiara Line

MRT Corp is recruiting experienced Assistant Managers, Railway Systems to support the delivery of key technical packages for the Penang Mutiara Line.

Successful candidates may be assigned to one of the following areas based on their professional background:

• Maintenance Vehicle
• Power Supply & Distribution System - Coordination

The role

As an Assistant Manager, Railway Systems, you will support the technical coordination and project delivery of your assigned railway-system package throughout design, implementation, testing and commissioning and operational readiness.

You will work with internal engineering teams, system contractors, consultants, utility providers, authorities and other project stakeholders to ensure project requirements and interfaces are effectively managed and delivered.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning, design review, technical coordination and delivery of the assigned railway-system package.
• Review engineering submissions, technical documentation, designs and contractor deliverables.
• Coordinate technical interfaces between railway systems, civil works and other project disciplines.
• Participate in design reviews, interface meetings, technical workshops and contractor coordination sessions.
• Monitor technical deliverables and project progress and identify risks or issues requiring escalation.
• Support requirements verification and validation.
• Coordinate and support testing, commissioning and operational-readiness activities.
• Monitor compliance with applicable project procedures, contractual requirements, safety obligations and quality requirements.
• Maintain relevant engineering, interface and project records.
• Support technical risk and change management.
• Provide technical advice and coordination support to project teams and stakeholders.
• Assist management in ensuring timely and effective completion of project deliverables.

Specialist assignment - Maintenance Vehicle

The Maintenance Vehicle assignment will support the technical coordination and delivery of railway maintenance-vehicle systems, including design and contractor coordination, system interfaces, testing, commissioning and operational-readiness activities.

Candidates should have relevant professional experience in railway maintenance vehicles, engineering vehicles, rolling stock, railway plant or a closely related railway engineering environment.

Power Supply & Distribution System

The Power Supply & Distribution System assignment will support the delivery and coordination of railway electrical power systems, including interfaces with utility supply, traction and non-traction power, auxiliary systems, substations, distribution infrastructure and other railway systems.

The current profile requires relevant railway-project experience together with strong interface and technical coordination capabilities.

• Applicants must possess a recognised bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline with a minimum CGPA of 3.0
• Candidates should demonstrate relevant railway or major rail-infrastructure delivery experience together with the ability to review technical matters, coordinate interfaces and work effectively with contractors and stakeholders.
• We are looking for people who communicate clearly, take ownership, work through problems systematically and can operate effectively in a fast-moving multidisciplinary project environment.
