Join the team delivering the Penang Mutiara Line

Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) is recruiting experienced Railway Systems Managers to support the delivery of key systems for the Penang Mutiara Line.

Successful candidates may be matched to their specialist railway systems experience in one of the following areas:

• Signalling and Train Control System (S&TCS)
• Automatic Platform Gates (APG)
• Communications – Public Address System (PA), Passenger Information Display System (PIDS) and Private Automatic Branch Exchange (PABX)

The role

As a Manager, Railway Systems, you will lead the technical delivery and coordination of your assigned system throughout the project lifecycle, from detailed design and interface development through installation, testing and commissioning, trial running, operational readiness and handover.

You will work across internal project teams, system contractors, Work Package Contractors, consultants, authorities and the future operator to ensure technical requirements are understood, integrated and delivered in accordance with project objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution and technical delivery of the assigned railway system.
• Review designs, technical submissions, specifications and contractor deliverables for compliance with project and railway requirements.
• Establish and manage interfaces between the assigned system and civil works, rolling stock, power, signalling, communications and other railway systems.
• Coordinate technical workshops, interface meetings and design reviews and drive issues through to closure.
• Manage system requirements, interface records and Interface Control Documents.
• Monitor contractor progress, technical performance, programme risks and delivery issues.
• Support Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, Site Integration Tests, integrated testing, trial running and operational-readiness activities.
• Manage technical risks, design changes and configuration matters throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure project activities comply with applicable safety, quality and contractual requirements.
• Provide clear technical recommendations and progress updates to project leadership and stakeholders.

What we are looking for

• You must possess a recognised bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline and substantial hands-on railway systems experience with a minimum CGPA of 3.0
• Direct specialist experience is essential. Current role profiles require significant experience in railway signalling and train-control systems, automatic platform gates or railway telecommunications, depending on the assignment.
• For Signalling and Train Control candidates, experience with Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) and Grade of Automation 4 (GoA4) systems is highly advantageous.
• Telecommunications candidates should have strong experience in the relevant communications systems and in managing multidisciplinary railway interfaces and Interface Control Documents.
• Experience in metro, Light Rail Transit, Mass Rapid Transit or mainline railway projects is strongly preferred.
• We are looking for people who communicate technical issues clearly, demonstrate ownership and drive, and can work credibly across contractors, consultants and senior project stakeholders.
