Job summary

Express Rail Link in Kuala Lumpur seeks a Senior Engineer to support the effective management and coordination of engineering, regulatory and third-party matters relating to the KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services. You will work with operations and maintenance teams, rail and terminal operators, government agencies and contractors to ensure safe, efficient and compliant railway operations.

The role requires collaboration across multiple stakeholders and a strong focus on safety and regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of engineering experience.
• Experience in railway, transportation or infrastructure preferred.
• Strong written and verbal English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with E-MAS on train operations, maintenance and technical issues.
• Identify opportunities for operational improvements, efficiency and cost optimisation.
• Coordinate and manage third-party works, crossings and activities within the ERL railway corridor.
• Liaise with rail and terminal operators on interfaces and shared infrastructure.
• Coordinate with regulatory authorities (APAD) on railway operations.
• Support coordination of projects, contracts, government agencies and initiatives.
• Undertake other duties and assignments as needed.

Key Role Summary

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to support the effective management and coordination of engineering, operational, regulatory and third-party matters relating to the KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services. The role will work closely with our operation and maintenance team, rail and terminal operators, government agencies, contractors and other external stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient and compliant railway operations.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Maintenance

• Coordinate with E-MAS (subsidiary company) on matters relating to train operations, maintenance and technical issues.
• Work closely with E-MAS to identify opportunities for operational improvements, efficiency and cost optimisation.
• Support the resolution and coordination of technical matters affecting railway operations and maintenance.

Third-Party Works Management

• Coordinate and manage third-party works, crossings and activities within the ERL railway corridor.
• Ensure third-party works comply with ERLSB’s technical, safety and financial requirements.
• Liaise with relevant stakeholders on safety and security matters relating to railway crossings and third-party activities.
• Coordinate requests for Third-Party Railway (TPR) works and facilitate the necessary approvals and release of TPR.

Rail & Terminal Interface Management

• Coordinate with other rail operators and terminal operators on matters relating to operational interfaces, facilities and shared infrastructure.
• Facilitate effective communication and coordination among relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth railway and terminal operations.

Regulatory & Compliance

• Coordinate with relevant regulatory authorities, including the Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat (APAD), on matters relating to railway operations.
• Ensure railway services comply with applicable operating license requirements and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Work closely with E-MAS to support compliance with and implementation of applicable railway legislation and requirements.

Projects & Special Assignments

• Support the coordination and management of projects, special events and other initiatives related to railway operations and business activities.
• Assist in matters relating to contracts, concession management, government agencies, E-MAS and other strategic or operational initiatives.
• Undertake other duties and assignments as may be reasonably assigned from time to time.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related engineering/technical discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience in the railway, transportation or infrastructure industry will be an added advantage.
• Good understanding of engineering, operational and safety requirements in a transportation or infrastructure environment will be an advantage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Analytical, results-driven and able to learn quickly in a dynamic operating environment.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team.
