The Assistant Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating maintenance operations and ensuring the efficient and safe functioning of the company’s facilities, equipment, and premises. The role involves supervising maintenance staff, coordinating repair and installation activities, managing contractors and service providers, monitoring maintenance expenses, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
The Assistant Maintenance Manager will also be responsible for developing and implementing maintenance procedures, conducting regular inspections, identifying and resolving maintenance issues, monitoring equipment inventory, and providing regular progress reports to management.
Job Responsibilities:
- Train, supervise, and manage maintenance department employees.
- Develop and implement effective maintenance procedures and schedules.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all repair, maintenance, and installation activities.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities, buildings, equipment, and systems to identify and resolve maintenance issues.
- Ensure the operational efficiency and reliability of electrical equipment, mechanical systems, plumbing, and other building services through timely inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair.
- Check and maintain electrical and hydraulic systems to ensure proper functionality and safety.
- Ensure company premises, facilities, and surrounding areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and hygienic condition.
- Allocate workloads and supervise maintenance and housekeeping staff to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with external vendors and contractors for maintenance and repair services.
- Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
- Monitor equipment, tools, and spare-parts inventory and place orders when necessary.
- Monitor maintenance expenses and ensure effective control of the maintenance budget.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, work orders, and reports.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on maintenance activities, expenses, and work progress to management.
- Implement and enforce workplace safety policies, procedures, and standards.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and other applicable requirements.
- Identify maintenance-related problems and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Facility Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in maintenance management or a similar role.
- Good knowledge of facilities, machinery, equipment, and building maintenance systems.
- Strong understanding of technical aspects including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and hydraulic systems.
- Hands-on experience in planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and team-management skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision‑making abilities.
- Good mathematical and budgeting skills, with the ability to monitor and control maintenance expenses.
- Ability to manage contractors, vendors, and service providers effectively.
- Proactive, responsible, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
