Job summary

KPJ Perlis Specialist Hospital is seeking an Assistant in Finance Services to support the Accountant with accounts payable, cash and cheque handling, and related duties in a hospital setting.

The role covers asset tagging, stock counts, filing, and compliance with safety and quality standards. Strong Excel skills and a Diploma in Accounting/Finance are required, with 1–3 years of relevant experience.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

An assistant in Finance Services shall assist the Accountant in performing the functions of account payable role, cash, card and cheque management tasks, other related tasks given by superior and accountant, bank and cash management roles, handle audit queries and other administrative matters.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Account payable role

To record all invoices on timely basis.

Petty cash and cash management

Assist in petty cash transactions and ensure cash are tally between system and physical cash. To perform cash management tasks such as bank in cash, card and cheque on daily basis, including reconciliations.

Stock and asset management

Perform asset tagging exercise and stock counts during stock take.

Clerical and safekeeping of documentations

To perform proper filing of records and maintain systematic filing system. To carry out duties as an employee as stipulated in Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 and Regulations:

  • To take reasonable care at work for the safety of yourself and other persons;
  • To co-operate with your employer or any other person in the discharge of any duty;
  • To wear or use any protective equipment or clothing provided by the employer;
  • To comply with any instruction or measure on occupational safety and health.
  • Participate actively in any other new service that is introduced by the services.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures of MSQH Hospital Accreditation Standard are adhered to and records maintained, if and when these programs are implemented.
  • Ensure compliance to Patient Safety Goals as safety improvement measures which have been adopted by KPJ
  • To maintain proper Hand Hygiene at workplace.
  • Ensure adhere to The KPJ Way / Standard People Practice (SPP).
  • Keep abreast with the latest Human Resource knowledge and information. (e.g attended Conference / Seminars)
  • To involve in HIRADC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Determining Controls) exercise.
  • To involve in EAI (Environmental Aspects and Impacts) exercise.
  • To perform any other duties as and when required / directed by Account Executive / Accountant designated by the Company.
  • To assist in preparing monthly performing indicator for Finance Services.
JOB REQUIREMENT
  • Education: Diploma in Accounting, Finance or any related.
  • Knowledge and Experiences: 1 - 3 years of relevant accounting / finance experience Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting Familiarity with accounting systems.
  • Special skills required: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Communication Skills – good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Personal attributes: Responsible, organized, able to meet tight deadlines Capable of working independently and in a team Creative and good common sense.
