Job summary

Syarikat Peladang Dan Perusahaan Minyak is seeking a motivated Assistant Engineer to support operation, maintenance and improvement of palm oil mill machinery. You will work with engineering, maintenance and production teams to ensure reliability, minimize downtime and maintain safe mill operations.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical or mechatronic engineering, hands-on site work, and ability to troubleshoot.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical/mechatronic engineering or related field.
• Willing to do hands-on site work and troubleshooting.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office an advantage.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Able to communicate with technicians, operators and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily operation, inspection and maintenance of palm oil mill machinery.
• Monitor equipment condition for abnormalities, wear, leaks or failures.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical breakdowns and coordinate repairs.
• Plan and follow up on preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Supervise technicians, fitters, welders and contractors during maintenance.
• Prepare maintenance records, history and breakdown reports.
• Assist in planning spare parts, materials and tools for maintenance.
• Monitor spare-parts usage and evaluate replacements.
• Assist in mill shutdown planning and major maintenance works.

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Assistant Engineer to support the operation, maintenance and improvement of palm oil mill machinery and equipment. The successful candidate will work closely with the engineering, maintenance and production teams to ensure machinery reliability, minimize downtime and maintain safe and efficient mill operations.

Key responsibilities

Assist in the daily operation, inspection and maintenance of palm oil mill machinery and equipment.

Monitor equipment condition and identify abnormalities, wear, vibration, leakage or potential failures.

Assist in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment breakdowns and coordinate repair works.

Plan and follow up on preventive and corrective maintenance activities.

Supervise technicians, fitters, welders and contractors during maintenance and repair works.

Assist in maintenance of equipment such as screw presses, conveyors, elevators, pumps, gearboxes, sterilizers, boilers and other mill machinery.

Prepare maintenance records, equipment history and breakdown reports.

Assist in planning spare parts, materials and tools required for maintenance activities.

Monitor spare-parts usage and assist with technical evaluation of replacement parts and equipment.

Assist in mill shutdown planning and major maintenance works.

About you

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline.

Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment, maintenance and engineering principles.

Able and willing to perform hands-on site work and troubleshooting.

Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is an advantage.

Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

Able to communicate and work effectively with technicians, operators and contractors.

Responsible, willing to learn and able to work independently when required.

Willing to work in a palm oil mill/industrial environment and attend to breakdowns or operational requirements when necessary.

Experience in palm oil mills, manufacturing plants or heavy industries is an advantage.

Knowledge of preventive maintenance and condition monitoring is an advantage.
