Job summary

Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur invites applications for an Engineering Manager to oversee daily hotel engineering operations, ensure maintenance work orders are completed, and lead the Engineering team in delivering safe, reliable service.

The role requires 5–7 years in hotel engineering with 2–3 years in a supervisory capacity, strong knowledge of building systems, and experience in preventive maintenance and project delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent).
• 5–7 years in hotel engineering with 2–3 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of building systems and M&E equipment.
• Experience in preventive maintenance, project management, and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily engineering operations, ensuring maintenance activities and work orders are completed and recorded.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programmes for M&E systems, equipment and facilities.
• Lead, supervise, and manage Engineering team members, including performance management, scheduling and training.
• Monitor and ensure optimal operation of plant, equipment and building systems.
• Support energy conservation initiatives and monitor utility consumption to improve efficiency.
• Manage inventory, stock control and availability of engineering supplies.
• Drive cost control measures while maintaining operational efficiency and service standards.
• Plan and execute special projects, repairs and improvement works as assigned.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene and environmental standards.
• Lead and manage Fire & Life Safety (FLS) programmes, including inspections, maintenance, training and emergency preparedness.
• Coordinate emergency response procedures and act as Emergency Response Team (ERT) leader when required.
• Maintain effective communication with all departments to support hotel operations.
• Prepare reports, maintenance plans, and updates for the Director of Engineering.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of building systems, M&E equipment, and hotel engineering operations
• Experience in preventive maintenance planning and project management
• Good understanding of Fire & Life Safety systems and regulatory compliance
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
