Job summary

Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Service Leader - Engineering (Chargeman) to oversee the hotel's electrical distribution, monitor the Building Management System, and ensure safe, reliable operations across high and low voltage networks.

The role requires 2–3 years of electrical maintenance experience in hotels or large facilities, a valid Chargeman A4 certificate, strong teamwork and communication, and willingness to work rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays.

Qualifications

• Valid Chargeman A4 certificate issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga Malaysia.
• Minimum 2–3 years of electrical maintenance experience in hotels or large facilities.
• Sound understanding of LV systems, generators, transformers, UPS, and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain high and low voltage electrical distribution systems in line with regulations.
• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment.
• Respond promptly to electrical faults and emergencies to minimise downtime.
• Monitor BMS, electrical panels, and utility consumption.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors during maintenance, repairs, and project works.
• Ensure all installations comply with statutory requirements and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection reports, and equipment records.
• Assist in planning energy conservation initiatives.
• Ensure proper lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices.
• Support hotel operations by attending to guest and departmental maintenance requests.
• Participate in emergency response procedures, including power failures and fire safety drills.
• Maintain good housekeeping within plant rooms, substations, and engineering work areas.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer or Engineering Management.

• Good understanding of electrical distribution systems, generators, transformers, UPS, and LV systems.


• Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and safety regulations.


• Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) is an advantage.


• Ability to troubleshoot electrical faults independently.


• Good communication and teamwork skills.


• Willing to work on rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays.


• Basic computer literacy for maintenance reporting.
