Job summary

Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Service Leader - Engineering (Chargeman) to manage and maintain the hotel's high and low voltage electrical systems, monitor BMS, and coordinate with contractors. The role requires a valid Chargeman A4 certificate and 2–3 years' experience in electrical maintenance within large facilities.

You will ensure safety, perform preventive maintenance, respond to faults, supervise energy conservation projects, and support daily hotel operations.

Qualifications

• Chargeman A4 certificate is required.
• 2–3 years electrical maintenance experience in hotels or large facilities preferred.
• Knowledge of LV systems, UPS, transformers and electrical distribution is expected.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and maintain high and low voltage electrical systems per regulations.
• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance and fault troubleshooting.
• Respond promptly to faults to minimise downtime.
• Monitor Building Management System (BMS) and electrical panels.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors during maintenance and projects.
• Ensure installations comply with safety regulations and log maintenance activities.
• Support energy conservation initiatives and safe work practices.
• Assist in daily hotel operations and emergency response activities.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain the hotel's high and low voltage electrical distribution systems in accordance with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission) regulations.
• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment, switchboards, transformers, generators, and related systems.
• Respond promptly to electrical faults and emergencies to minimise operational downtime.
• Monitor Building Management System (BMS), electrical panels, and utility consumption.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors during maintenance, repairs, and project works.
• Ensure all electrical installations comply with statutory requirements and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection reports, and equipment records.
• Assist in planning and implementing energy conservation initiatives.
• Ensure proper lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices are followed.
• Support hotel operations by attending to guest and departmental maintenance requests.
• Participate in emergency response procedures, including power failures and fire safety drills.
• Maintain good housekeeping within plant rooms, substations, and engineering work areas.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer or Engineering Management.

Requirements

• Possess a valid Chargeman A4 Certificate issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga Malaysia.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably within hotels, commercial buildings, hospitals, or large facilities.
• Good understanding of electrical distribution systems, generators, transformers, UPS, and LV systems.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and safety regulations.
• Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) is an advantage.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical faults independently.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Willing to work on rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Basic computer literacy for maintenance reporting.
