Job summary

Marzuki Mahadi Architect in Johor Bahru is seeking a responsible Clerk of Works / Inspector of Works to join our project team. You will support the architectural group on site through close observation, inspection, documentation, and reporting to ensure construction aligns with approved drawings and the Architect’s design intent.

On-site duties include regular inspections, monitoring progress, checking workmanship and materials, and reporting defects to the Architect / HQ.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Architecture, Building, Construction or related field.
• Strong observation and reporting skills.
• Good communication and coordination abilities.

Responsibilities

Clerk of Works / Inspector of Works – Architectural

Location: Johor Bahru, Johor

Marzuki Mahadi Architect is seeking a responsible, detail-oriented, and experienced Clerk of Works / Inspector of Works to join our project team.

The successful candidate will support the architectural team on site through close observation, inspection, documentation, and reporting, ensuring that construction works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and the Architect’s design intent.

What You’ll Do

Site Inspection & Quality Control

• Conduct regular site inspections and monitor construction progress.
• Inspect workmanship, materials, and installation for compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
• Identify defects, discrepancies, and non‑compliance and report them to the Architect / HQ.
• Monitor rectification works and follow up on outstanding issues.

Site Monitoring & Reporting

• Maintain close observation of site activities and contractor performance.
• Record site conditions, progress, defects, and relevant matters through photographs, inspection reports, and checklists.
• Provide timely and accurate reports to the Architect / HQ.
• Highlight matters requiring further review, instruction, or decision.

Coordination & Documentation

• Attend site meetings and provide updates on site progress and issues.
• Coordinate with contractors and consultants on inspection and follow‑up matters.
• Assist in monitoring approved drawings, materials, samples, and construction requirements.
• Maintain proper site records and project documentation.

Approval & Confirmation

• All confirmations, approvals, and decisions affecting the project are subject to prior review and approval by the Architect / HQ.
• Do not independently approve, accept, vary, or confirm works, materials, or construction methods without the required authorisation.
• Ensure approved instructions and decisions are properly recorded and communicated.

What We’re Looking For

• Diploma / Degree in Architecture, Building, Construction, or related field.
• Relevant experience in architectural site inspection, supervision, or construction.
• Good understanding of architectural drawings, specifications, materials, and construction methods.
• Strong observation, reporting, and documentation skills.
• Good communication and coordination abilities.
• Responsible, disciplined, and able to work independently.
• Able to identify issues and elevate matters appropriately.
• Knowledge of PAM / JKR contracts is an advantage.
• Willing to travel to project sites as required.
