Job summary

TTY ID & Construction Sdn Bhd, based in Penang, is seeking an Architect to lead design development for commercial and light industrial projects across North Malaysia. You will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality designs that meet timelines and regulatory standards.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's or Master's in Architecture (LAM Part I or equivalent) with 2–3 years' experience and proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Photoshop.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Architecture (LAM Part I or equivalent)
• 2–3 years of architectural practice experience, preferably commercial/industrial
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp and Photoshop for design development and documentation
• Strong English and Chinese communication to support Mandarin-speaking clients and stakeholders
• Understanding of Malaysian building regulations and permit processes
• Full working rights for Malaysia

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement design strategies and standards to meet project goals while ensuring compliance with local regulations, building codes, and authority guidelines
• Liaise with consultants, local authorities, and regulatory agencies to obtain permits and approvals for projects
• Collaborate with project stakeholders, engineers, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to align design intent with regulatory standards and client expectations
• Manage design timelines and coordinate with consultant and contractor teams to meet milestones and deadlines
• Work with project managers to integrate design phases into overall project schedules and objectives
• Identify design risks and implement mitigation strategies for timely delivery within budget
• Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and design compliance
• Lead and participate in project meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities to resolve issues

This role combines creative design work with technical coordination, regulatory compliance, and site supervision. You'll work directly with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities to ensure design intent is realized while meeting project timelines and quality standards. Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement design strategies and standards to meet project goals while ensuring compliance with local regulations, building codes, and authority guidelines
• Liaise with consultants, local authorities, and regulatory agencies to understand requirements, navigate approval processes, and obtain necessary permits and approvals for projects
• Collaborate with project stakeholders, engineers, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure design intent alignment with regulatory standards and client expectations
• Manage design timelines and coordinate with consultant and contractor teams to effectively meet project milestones and deadlines without compromising quality
• Work closely with project managers to ensure seamless integration of design phases into overall project schedules, timelines, and objectives
• Identify design-related risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure timely delivery of high-quality designs within budget and scope constraints
• Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress, verify design compliance, and address any design-related issues that arise during construction phase
• Lead and participate in project meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities to communicate design intent, resolve issues, and ensure project alignment

About you

• Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Architecture (Minimum LAM Part I or equivalent qualification)
• 2-3 years of working experience in architectural practice, preferably in commercial or industrial projects
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Photoshop for design development, presentation, and technical documentation
• Good command of English and Chinese (spoken and written) to support Mandarin-speaking clients and stakeholders
• Strong interpersonal skills with leadership qualities and effective communication abilities to interact professionally with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities
• Understanding of Malaysian building regulations, local authority requirements, and permit approval processes
• Full working rights for Malaysia
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining design quality
