Job summary

Tentacle Tech, an IT and software development consulting company in Malaysia, is seeking an Application Support Engineer for a 12-month onsite contract in Kuala Lumpur. You will keep business-critical applications available, stable and high-performing, troubleshoot incidents and collaborate with development and infrastructure teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field is desired.
• Strong understanding of application architecture and support methodologies.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases (e.g., Oracle, MySQL).
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments and scripting (e.g., Shell, Python).
• familiarity with ITIL processes and Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
• Knowledge of Java/.NET applications, middleware and web services.
• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain and support enterprise applications to ensure high availability.
• Investigate and resolve incidents, problems and service requests within SLAs.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
• Collaborate with development teams on bug fixes and deployments.
• Manage configurations, patches and upgrades across environments.
• Document procedures and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing.
• Provide on-call support during critical outages.
