Job summary

Kobay Technology Bhd. is seeking an experienced AOI Field Service Engineer to install, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain AOI inspection equipment at customer sites in Penang, Malaysia.

The role requires hands-on AOI experience, strong problem solving, and willingness to travel as needed. Responsibilities include on-site installation, commissioning, documentation, customer sign-off, and preventive maintenance, with additional focus on parameter optimization and customer training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electronic, Automation or related field.
• Minimum 2 years on-site field service with AOI equipment.
• Solid AOI understanding: optics, mechanics, electricals and software.
• Hands-on installation, troubleshooting, calibration and preventive maintenance.
• Good problem solving and communication with customers.
• Chinese language preferred for customer interactions.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced AOI Field Service Engineer to install, commission, troubleshoot, maintain and optimize AOI inspection equipment at customer sites. Candidates must have hands‑on experience with AOI equipment and be comfortable working on‑site with customers.

Responsibilities

On‑Site Installation & Setup

Perform on‑site mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, and pneumatic/optical path connections to complete equipment positioning and setup.

Documentation & Customer Sign‑Off

Prepare commissioning reports and acceptance documents, and obtain formal customer sign‑off upon completion of acceptance testing.

Execute rapid repairs, including spare parts replacement, circuit/wiring restoration, software reinstallation or upgrades, and accuracy recalibration.

Customer Training

Train customers on equipment operation, routine maintenance, and basic troubleshooting procedures.

Inspection Parameter Optimization

Assist in optimizing inspection parameters to reduce false calls and misses, thereby improving overall inspection efficiency.

Preventive Maintenance
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, regular accuracy calibration, and software upgrades.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum 2 years of on‑site field service experience with AOI inspection equipment.

Solid understanding of AOI principles and fundamentals, including optics, mechanics, electrical systems, and software.

Hands‑on experience in equipment installation, troubleshooting, calibration, and preventive maintenance.

Good problem‑solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues independently.

Proficiency in Chinese is preferred, with the ability to communicate effectively with Chinese‑speaking customers.

Good communication and customer service skills.

Willingness to travel to customer sites as required.

Able to work independently and respond effectively to urgent technical issues.

Preferred Skills

Experience with semiconductor, electronics, PCB, or automated inspection equipment.

Experience in AOI parameter optimization and inspection process improvement.

Knowledge of electrical wiring, pneumatic systems, optical systems, and equipment software.

Experience in customer‑facing technical support and equipment commissioning.
