Job summary

FAIR WORK (M) SDN. BHD. seeks a field service engineer in Penang to install, commission, and accept AOI inspection equipment at customer sites, ensuring it meets performance specifications and standards.

You will diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, vision, and software issues, provide on-site or remote support, and travel as needed. Mandarin communication with customers and internal teams is required.

Qualifications

• Diploma or higher in Mechatronics, Automation, or Machine Vision.
• Experience in semiconductor packaging or AOI inspection equipment.
• Strong hands-on and problem-solving abilities.
• Mandarin proficiency to communicate with Mandarin-speaking customers.
• Willing to travel frequently, domestic and overseas.

Job description

Responsible for the installation, commissioning, and acceptance of AOI inspection equipment at customer sites.

Ensure the equipment meets the required performance specifications and operational standards.

2. Troubleshooting & Maintenance

Respond promptly to customer service requests and equipment breakdowns through telephone, remote, or on-site support.

Accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, vision, and software-related issues.

Perform timely troubleshooting and repair to minimize customer equipment downtime.

3. Customer Training

Provide training to customers’ operators and maintenance engineers on equipment operation, routine maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.

Ensure all training documentation is properly completed, signed, and filed.

4. Technical Support & Customer Communication

Act as the technical point of contact for customers and provide technical support for day-to-day equipment-related enquiries.

Collect and provide feedback on customer suggestions for product improvement and market requirements.

Assist the Sales team in maintaining good customer relationships.

5. Service Report Preparation

Prepare detailed service reports for every on-site service visit, including equipment issues, troubleshooting analysis, solutions implemented, and spare parts replaced.

Ensure all reports are properly documented and submitted on time in accordance with company requirements.

Document common equipment failures, troubleshooting cases, and solutions encountered at customer sites.

Contribute to the internal knowledge base and share technical experiences with the team to continuously improve the overall technical support capability.

Job Requirements

Diploma or above in Mechatronics, Automation, Machine Vision, or other related engineering disciplines.

Candidates with experience in semiconductor packaging or AOI inspection equipment will have an added advantage.

Strong hands-on and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform basic electrical troubleshooting, wiring, mechanical adjustment, equipment assembly, and fault diagnosis.

Able to work under pressure and respond effectively to equipment issues and customer requirements.

Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers on technical matters.

Able to speak Mandarin to communicate effectively with Mandarin-speaking customers and/or internal teams.

Responsible, customer-oriented, and able to work well as part of a team.

Willing and able to undertake frequent or long-term business travel, including domestic and overseas assignments.
